Help me decide on my next FSX payware purchase!

Featured Replies

Its almost the weekend!

So I'm looking for my next payware purchase, looking for suggestions, opinions and mini reviews!

My criteria.

Quality Payware a must!

General aviation, not looking for an tube-liner or self loading freight hauler...

Good solid IFR panel, no space shuttle cockpits, with more gizmo-trons than the Star Ship Enterprise.

I'd like a single engine piston, but would entertain a piston twin.

No whirly birds... not into them.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Lionheart's Bellanca Turbo Viking - Apart from being very a pretty aeroplane which is very nicely modelled by Lionheart with a lovely VC, it will cruise at well over 200 knots, has a simulated oxygen system, a 24,000 foot service ceiling, a 1200 fpm rate of climb, a range of just under 1,000 nautical miles and it lands at just over 60 knots. Easily my favourite GA aeroplane for FSX. Goes for 235k in Air Hauler if you use that incidentally.

My favourite fsx GA:

RealAir Turbine Duke

Baytower RV7

Carenado C337

Flight Replicas Super Cub

Carenado C208

Aerosoft Bush Hawk X

Real Air Scout/Citabria/Decathalon pack

I would heartily recommend all of these.

Cheers!

Hello

Be aware that the latest version of the bellanca is no longer FSX compatible, The web site states FS2004 only, FSX no longer supported.

Which seems like a strange thing for Bill to do but I am sure he has his reasons.

I just downloaded again from my Simmarket account and can confirm that the textures in the VC look strange.

Hopefully I still have the original FS9/FSX installer on my NAS somewhere.

Carenado C337 is terrific as mentioned before. Lionhearts Kodiak and Epic LT are very good, although they are turboprops. They both have lots of glass in cockpit, but still aren't too futuristic IMO.

If you want powerful pistons and you are willing to try vintage warbirds, then anything from A2A with Accusim, Warbirdsims P-51Ds or Classics-Hangars planes are absolutely brilliant, but they are of course more VFR birds as they lack modern electronic navigation systems. Still great fun to fly and there is lot to learn with them.

You might want to add the Columbia 400 to your list to take a look at. It is a great little plane like the rest mentioned.

The MilViz Cessna 310R or RealAir Duke would be my suggestion. The RealAir offers Reality XP integration over the MilViz, but other than that they both have extremely well done flight dynamics. The RealAir Duke Turbine offers astonishing climb performance (4000 ft/min +) with its turboprop engines.
