May 22, 201214 yr Right not sure you all know but i am a musician and im also a sound engineer. I have take the NGX down to my studio today and boy have these guys been hiding some freq's The NGX is awesome on proper deep base i suggest you guys invest into some sub bass systems your missing out sorry if i have over stepped the mark. but being a sound engineer myself. i had to praise the sounds tech guys on the project
May 22, 201214 yr Nice post mate and totally agree with ya! Im no musician as such (i DJ) or sound engineer but i appreciate the sounds and efforts the guys put into the NGX, they are awesome and set a very high standard....Love em! Chris Howard
May 22, 201214 yr Commercial Member Armen and I made a point of doing this when the sounds were done - there's a very distinctive low rumble you feel more than hear in the real airplane as the engines come up to takeoff power - if you have a good subwoofer system you'll get that effect from the NGX too. May 22, 201214 yr I was about to say what Ryan said. Set your speakers up right and you'll FEEL the NGX as much as hear it. It's nice, though I may need hearing aids soon. Chris Hicks
May 22, 201214 yr Author Oh yeah i travel on 737 'a alot and i know as soon as there are about to decent the rumble kicks in and you guys @ PMDG have captured this spot on!! ! ! ! Hey Ryan don't let me down on the big boy 777 hehe she has to be awesome im sure hint hint wink wink ? Oh and for anyone that is ready this post i have tested these on £10,000 worth of audio equipment no issues what so ever so its pure genious
May 30, 201214 yr I have my 5.1 speakers (in the bedroom no less) kicked into Cinema bass mode when flying the NGX. You can really hear/pretty feel the bass there. Especially love it when retarding the throttles when commencing the descent and hitting <50% N1. Karl Brooker
May 30, 201214 yr With my $7 Logitech speakers I can't hear the rumble very well, but with my Plantronics headset, HOLY COW. The sound is so much immersive and better. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
June 3, 201214 yr I don't use a subwoofer, but I use good speaker systems "old advents" driven with a 100w a channel JVC audo amp. So I get plenty of bass, and it's not overly colored or anything.. Or maybe I should say, it should generally sound fairly balanced between the various frequencies. I like the low rumble you hear when doing a descent, and the engines are idling down.. You hear a pretty good rumble many times, and I've heard that same sound in real 737's. Mark Keith
June 3, 201214 yr Can you guys recommend some headsets/ or headphones for FSX and the NGX? Do I need a sound card?
June 3, 201214 yr I'm using a Pioneer SE-M290 headset and I noticed taht rumble on the first descent I made... I was astonished. The only pending account is the engines noise evolution while ascending into cruise. But I think that's a FSX limitation. I overcome to it setting Engine sound level at around 30 on FSX... Then, wind sound masks engine sound. However, retarding rumble is not perceptable, we need an agreement between this two facts!
June 3, 201214 yr This is so true! My wife always yells at me during my take offs I just gotta make them windows shake else it is not as fun :) GREAT JOB PMDG TEAM! Jakub Wesolowski
June 3, 201214 yr After I gotten my Creative speakerset with subwoofer I was able to hear much more sounds then I expected, including that rumble once the engines start. Arjen Vandervelde
June 4, 201214 yr I can somewhat feel the rumble on my little sub. The mids though are amazing. The CFM's produce a roar that i've never heard in sim sounds, but I've come to adore when flying on the actual jet. Fantastic effort in the sounds! Martin Harasimowicz
June 4, 201214 yr I went out and bought a new sub and speaker system last week. Coming from a headset user, I have to say that this is a true game changer for me. The new subwoofer is 60 watts. - When descending with spoilers up, my entire room shakes due to the powerful bass. :Big Grin:
