Here is a new thread....Move On Already

Well said Jay Kae! You and the Orbx team do a fantastic job, don't let anyone here persuade you (or others) otherwise. These people deserve to be banned with their offensive and disgusting comments.

Well Alain the more people that see it for what it is the more people will do as I know you and I do, spend there money else where. Simple

So, really your's and other's intentions is to discredit Orbx and force them out of business by all these negative comments. As a very satisfied customer of theirs I take offence at that especially as I want Orbx to succeed as a company as I wish to continue purchasing their products.

It really is amazing how negative comments about Orbx are allowed to continue, yet, anything negative said about Microsoft and MS Flight can get you an instant ban here. /me shakes his head.

For anyone not familiar with the history, I was around when this whole thing "blew up" this year (or late last year) and let me tell you something. It wasn't as one-sided as the negative posters here make out and want you to believe. As a customer I was embarrassed and offended for Orbx at how some of the people (customers) carried on. I would have banned them as well.

I don't normally post in this "bashing" forum but the fascist remarks, although not directed at me, have offended me as well. Support forum? - yeah right .

I agree! The negativity toward ORBX needs to stop. You have a few bad apples that are trying their best to tarnish one of our best scenery developers. The actions of one person does NOT constitute this type of hatred toward the entire ORBX team. Grow UP!

This forum has become ludicrous. I hope Stephen or Tom can remedy the situation. Maybe some of these haters can take their hate somewhere else.

The negativity toward ORBX needs to stop

I agree, the people that work for Orbx are the best in the world at add-ons for Fsx and everyone should try them. The is no better developers in the world.

No..... every flight sim'er should have them.

I'm sick to death of the posts here also.

------------------

I chose them words very carefully and this is the last post from me about Orbx because the people that work for them have nothing to do with my trouble.

I have openly apologized to Ian on these forums and said countless times I would hold out my hand out and sort out anything if a person would do the same, he is not the type to do so sadly. So never mind..end of....

So that's it, the last post from me on all this. If you think I am so bad, unless all my post have been deleted or edited look thought my 1800 and 3 years on there, not one warning from MODs in that time and decide yourself how bad I am.

I wish everyone that gets a pay check from Orbx a long and prosperous income, you should, your the very best.

Kind regards and I do mean that to all of you.

The last post on Orbx from me. Moved on....

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

15000 at ORBX. Now with the 'hate' directed at ORBX by some (including me) here at avsim, 15000 is nothing compared to the amount that can see it here on avsim.

No hate from me.

Since I don't buy Orbx scenery anymore I guess this is directed at me also....

As I said in many post I am a VERY satisfied Orbx's product owner, love their scenery, I wish nothing but the best to them but I will always call a spade a spade so if I said something contrary to fact about Orbx PLEASE point me out to where I said that and I will apologize on the spot.....any takers?

I agree with you Jose that hatred as no place here, but, the action of one person, specially if he is the owner of a company, will sadly reflect on the entire company.

I agree with you Jose, some people have expressed their grievances in a fashion worthy of a Festivus Feast but for the better good...time to move on.

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

I'm going to start by saying I don't have any animus at all for orbx whatsoever. I love their products, I try my best to behave in their forums, I've not been banned or threatened, including one time a couple years ago when I called the top management out on something I felt was unnecessary, and "the big man" to his credit responded well and stopped the action. I wasn't involved at all in the sales fracas. if the product is worth the purchase price to you when you hit the buy button, it's still worth that purchase price to you when it goes on sale. as everybody has mentioned orbx makes the best scenery, and they crank it out at a regular pace, which is nice when compared the rest of the industry who are usually just small teams whose resources don't allow that sort of volume. In addition the vast majority of their staff are enormously helpful, they provide quick support, they augment their payware with freeware. In general these are good folks, and this is an important point, INCLUDING the ones that the regular posters here have trouble with.

So no, ######'s they are not.

However, and this is blindingly obvious even to me who rarely has a problem with how they do things; there is distinct lack of handling criticism graciously. If someone posts anything remotely of a critical nature it is often met immediately with an attitude of "how dare you". (sometimes by staff, sometimes by other members) Often these initial critcal posts are rude, but sometimes they're not, but the response is the same. threads are often closed or deleted. Now they are upfront about this, they feel that they don't want their forums to become a battleground, they want to control the message that their site promotes, and has been often repeated there: "Our Site, Our Rules"

It all sounds very reasonable, nobody wants to read constant flame wars (except for me sometimes, I find them entertaining) Everybody loves their products, and with a few reminders that they could pull the plug at anytime on production of their stuff and go home, us fans definitely want the product to continue, so it's worth putting up with. And to be honest the atmosphere over there is pretty cool most times (I've posted there more than anywhere else, I'm usually a lurker) When I post a screenshot there's usually a few positive comments within a bit (sometimes by staff which is nice) whether my screenies were any good or not.

So what's the problem? well this forum is an ample illustration. With a couple of exceptions, most of the posters here I was aware of at least by reputation on the orbx forums, and to be honest I would NOT characterize them as problem posters or "people with a constant axe to grind" (again with a couple of exceptions) in particular the moderator of this forum was immensely helpful to many many people on many many occasions, and did a lot of work to beat the drum for orbx's products over the years. I'm not really sure what happened to cause him to be banned, but whatever it was I am very sure that it was nowhere near enough to balance out his positive contributions to the community. There is a very old and very wise saying "keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer" This forum is a great example of why that is true, all of these folks who are currently setting up this insurrection as it were, would otherwise be very happy to continue their association with the orbx forum if the disagreement had not been resolved by exile. a calm rational discussion is a far better option than banning because now you have NO control over the message that these people are putting forward. people are rarely angry about things like the sale for very long if the anger isn't compounded by something else. Handling criticism is a vital part of conducting business, if you take money for a product, there will be issues. it's a fact of life. Freeware developers can feel free to handle it any way they want, but in the payware arena the "house" part of "my House my Rules" is made with the money of your customers; it's worth being conciliatory to general criticism,

I am locking this thread as well as deleting some of the over-the-top posts within it.

I've been gone for a couple of days and am surprised and very disappointed with just how low much of this has gone because of the bitterness of some and the agenda of others. I am putting a stop to it. As far as personal attacks against fellow members, ORBX people or slanderous exaggerated remarks against the company, either move on and get over whatever is your problem, or move out of this forum. This forum is intentionally not strictly controlled, but we won't allow a repetition of a much of what we have seen written here in this thread and elsewhere in this forum as of late.

Kind regards,
