June 4, 201214 yr I’m so done with Hawaii I just had to do something new. (to me). Today I circumnavigated all the Islands. Got on my fully loaded Vans RV-6A (with cockpit) and started with Maui, then did Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Oahu, Kawai, Niihau and finally did Hawaii, this big island took two solid hours, the rest can be done in less than one hour each. Landed at all coastal airports along the way, actually touch and go’s, refueled a couple times. Flew around 300 ft. and followed the shorelines. It was quite fun, got to see some very good scenery (although there are some areas that need a polish remake). It was also worthwhile as I found 5 aerocaches I had previously missed. (Heeia Pier, Kahuku Army Field, Honokohau Marina, Hakalau Bridge and Kona Coast Shipping). I have now collected 145 aerocaches. I’m sure I will come back to Hawaii once we get some more DLC, but now I need a weather change, so bring on Alaska and I promise I will circumnavigate it, at least once. Cheers Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
June 4, 201214 yr If you feel like a challenge, and something that really pushes the limits of fantasy flying (as opposed to realistic) I recommend looking up a good wide highway (I recommend the John A Burns freeway, just north of Honalulu, and fly it. Maybe 30 or 40 meters above the ground, or even less. It's ridiculous fun. The curvier the road, the better. And if you dive down into the highway, you basically get to re-enact a "death star run" from Star Wars!!

I'll will even try to "drive" it with the Icon. =) Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
June 4, 201214 yr I do that all the time. Such a thrill seeing the trees zoom by just beneath or to the sides. You need to concentrate though or you`ll end up building an impromtu tree house! I also like to see how low I can fly over the water. Not just a quick dip but down low and stay there. I managed a steady 6ft the other day. Just like the hit and runs under the radar in WWII ! Don`t think it`s possible to go much lower without needing an air sea rescue mission. lol
June 4, 201214 yr I was having some fun sparking the wingtips on the runway at full speed in the RV6 today... simple things amuse a simple mind...
June 4, 201214 yr I flew Kamehameha Highway (the coastal road) around Oahu's North Shore from Haleiwa to Kaneohe below tree-top level in the RV-6 the other day. That was a ton of fun. I had to yank up and over the trees a couple of times, but otherwise managed to keep the branches whizzing by on both sides all the way.
June 4, 201214 yr Sounds interesting, Ramón, but a little too long of a flight for me. Although my fantasy is to do pretty much the same thing, but with the world! Just follow the coastlines of all the continents while flying around the planet. I call this "Around the World - The Long Way!" Guess I won't be doing that with Flight, but I still have FS X installed. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
June 4, 201214 yr Hi Folks Ramon - Go to the southern tip of Ni'ihau. Head out on 236 d. Land at summit. Don't know how we'd missed it. Credit to Rob, (BigBadWolfski). Love flying below the treetops, especially down the Big Island's long slopes. HTH ATB Paul ODG Preview

Hi Paul Been there some time ago “Ka’ula”, crescent shaped island, but didn’t try to land. I’ll go back with the Icon and land at the summit. Thanks Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
June 4, 201214 yr Hi Folks Ramon - My apologies, I should have known better. I'd wrongly assumed as I couldn't find any ref in Beta NGs that we'd all missed it. ATB Paul ODG Preview
June 4, 201214 yr Author None needed Paul. Actually I found it after the beta; when I was trying Robo’s or some other AVSIM users long range flight to the Johnston Atoll, but of course I ran out of gas. I also tried to reach the mainland, but somehow everytime I used the refuel exploit I lost my progress and my plane appeared on the same spot on the map. (Something like that movie where every morning the guy wakes up on the very same day, I think it was Bill Murray) Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
June 5, 201214 yr Yes it was Bill Murray. Ground Hog Day was the name of the movie. It was filmed right here in my home town, Woodstock, Illinois. I got to watch a lot of the actors do their thing, over and over again until they got it right. Of course, not wanting to miss a money making opportunity for the community we now have a Ground Hog Day celebration every year. How ironic.
June 5, 201214 yr "Groundhog Day" was the movie. I posted about "The most remote place on Earth" in the beta NG March 22. I didn't try to look up the name of the isand at the time. As far as I know that's the most remote high resolution terrain in the Hawaii map. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
June 5, 201213 yr Hi Folks Larry - Sorry, I'd missed your beta NG post. Ka'ula's the most remote hi-res I've been able to find though had been looking further afield. Some IRL piccies. PS - NOTAM Be aware before attempting to land, Kaula volcano was used as a target for aerial bombing and contains many unexploded bombs. HTH ATB Paul ODG Preview
