June 9, 201213 yr Does the LVD 767 ever go on sale? I might hold out for that. Otherwise I'm leaning towards the MD-11x right now. I have never seen the LVLD 767 on sale. I've seen the boxed versions of the PMDG MD-11 and 747-400X on sale regularly.
June 9, 201213 yr Does the LVD 767 ever go on sale? It may vey well do so soon, Flight 1 (who are the brokers for the Level D) have recently announced that they are going to be doing a 'deal of the week' type of thing, currently I think it is the glass cockpit C-182 which is on offer if I recall correctly, so you never know. Generally speaking, when most places have a deal of the week or some such, it is to breathe some life into the sales figures for things which many people have already got, in order to pull in those who have considered buying but never got around to it, so the Level D would be a prime candidate for that I should think. Of the three, if it were me, I'd go for the MD-11, not because it is the best, but because the PMDG 747 is getting an update, which will be a new product, so not a free upgrade, the Level D might be subject to one of those sales, but the MD-11 is what it is, and will not be subject to any changes soon. It's true that the MD-11 is not an aircraft which presently does much passenger flying, I think Finnair were the last ones to do that with it, but it is used a lot by Fed Ex, but in any case, the great thing about FS is that you don't have to worry about that level of realism, you can fly the Wright Flyer in 1903 if you want, so simulating an airliner a few years ago is no big deal at all. Nobody flies passengers in the Boeing 377 anymore either, but I do so regularly in FSX. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 9, 201213 yr It's true that the MD-11 is not an aircraft which presently does much passenger flying, I think Finnair were the last ones to do that with it, but it is used a lot by Fed Ex The MD-11 is still used for passanger services quite a bit for KLM. They are being phased out though.
June 10, 201213 yr Actually, now that I think about it, there really isn't any reason not to get the MD-11. Sure the only passenger service you might be able to do is KLM and a couple of others, but the amount of freight it hauls with FedEx and UPS and the likes makes up for it. That and just the uniqueness of the plane itself; I know if I ever buy it I'm not going to be able to just jump in, program the FMC, and takeoff. It looks different just by the pictures on the PMDG website. So I'm saying buy it and don't look back.
June 10, 201213 yr If you fly by the book and like a challenge, go for the MD11. Highly automated, lots of very interesting design features, hand flies beautifully on departure and can be a real handful on approach unless you can manage the speed very carefully. Also you get to learn of the MD11 bounce! There is a very good post on the mD11 forum about the operation of the aircraft by Lufthansa Cargo with a very good video. Highly recommend it! June 13, 201213 yr MD 11 - most modern and complete of the three. Best VC. Interesting plane and a challenge to learn if you've flown Boeings a lot. Fun.
June 13, 201213 yr MD-11 definitely. CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11
June 16, 201213 yr PMDG is remaking the 747 at this moment, but who knows when it will be released. They announced this in Germany. I would go with the md-11 at the moment and wait until the new 747 comes out. The current 747 is showing its age.
June 16, 201213 yr Gotta recommend the MD-11... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31Jw_JCVgMs The "Queen of the Skies" will always have a soft-spot in my heart because she was the first complex add-on I bought for FS2004, and then for FSX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQzbAM-frBs I'd still go with the MD-11, since it is the newest of the three and like others said, the new 747 will be coming in due time. P.S. -- All the videos were recorded on my old, Dual Core system, so they appear a bit choppy because FRAPS, and FSRecorder eat CPU cycles along with FSX. My new i7 system gives much better performance, obviously. FS Blog -- http://www.flightsim...y.blogspot.com/
June 16, 201213 yr I voted for all 3 also but I do use the MD-11 daily. It looks so awesome with 3 engines!
June 16, 201213 yr amount of freight it hauls with FedEx and UPS and the likes makes up for it. :good:
