777-300ER Maneuvering Camera

Featured Replies

I don't think this has been brought up before, but what do you think about the chances of reproducing the -300ER's taxi maneuvering camera on PMDG's subsequent expansion of the base 777? If you've seen pictures, it involves using the display unit in the center pedestal. From an FSX persepective, it would mean joining 3 different outside views on that display. I also wonder about the FPS impact. Just curious. I think it would be a nice feature.

As long as they don't put a static picture like Captain Sim did, looks incredibly stupid .

Well nobody knows exactly if it really was a static picture; it was just a short 1 minute video about the EFB.

It was, it comes with the Aircraft and can easily add your own. (I have it ha)

Well it is a work-in-progress, so lets just wait for the final product.

I believe it´s doable but in the end it will come down to a cost x benefit analysis in regards to the fps hit. I´d love it personally. However I doubt PMDG would implement it as a static view just for eye candy if there is no functionality involved. Refer to the Wx radar debate and you´ll catch my drift.

PMDG pushed the envelope with the HUGS in the NGX, even though IRL it's a rare option so I think we will likely see the manoeuvring camera as a "showpiece" feature for the 777, in order to differentiate themselves from the PSS and Captainsim products.

VRS had something similar (FLIR Camera?) for their F-18, so it's not impossible.

The HUD is not rare on the 737, is it? I mean, if you said 777 I would understand, but, on the 737 NG, I think it's an option for the airline. Southwest has it.

SWA and AA uses the hud, one of the two biggest operators of the 737 in the US and Continited may have it as well.

Honestly gents, whats the point? 'They have it in real life'... Yeah, but pilots 'in real life' are not able to spin around the aircraft at any time to look at the exterior model...

Maybe because they are professionals who have dedicated their time, money, and life to aviation? They do need it.
