so simple question. for example can I force the PRO ATC to fly this route string.

EGKK BOGNA1M (SID) BOGNA N615 BENBO UY47 DRAKE UL151 SITET UN859 PUMAL BCN UZ167 LORES LORE2P (STAR) LEPA

Or is it still going to run its own flight plan ?

also can it be used with wilco a320 and new BBS a320 ?

thanks

To late, I've got it ...don't let the wife know :girl_devil:

Well, Hmmm, yes!

Points so far. Please bear IN MIND that these are probably 'newbie, should read the manual', type issues and I've only had it about 10mins :P

1. No support for addon scenery that was the first big issue I faced when creating a FP. I couldn't start at my normal gate at EGBB.

2. How do you know what the radio frequencies are? I use EFB, so I just referred to that. But how else would you know.

3. There is an option on the menu 'Request ATIS Frequency'?!. I got nothing when I selected that .

Went into the DATA>SID/STAR Procedures and then into edit a waypoint of a SID, they're all set to 0ft :o . Not sure if that is an issue, with ATC. I haven't left the stand yet

The thing I do like is the ATC chatter is very good. Once I realized that the FSX ATC voice had to be turned off

Right, going to turn off ALL coPilot support and see how this infaces with MCE. I come back a let you know

Hi all,

Yes you can, but it's long and boring, you should create a FP between EGKK and LEPA, generate it and erase all the waypoint that you don't need, after on the map clic on Vor or int some points appear on the map right click on it, the new wp appear in the flight plan, do the same for the others, finally go to the airway right clic and change by what you want if it's possible to do .

I tried that last week between lfqq and lepa, it's great.

To answer all your questions - Yes. The flight planner would not have have the SID or STAR but if you make your flightplan from EGKK to BOGNA N615 etc., to LORES, you will most likely get the Bogna1M SID and the LORE2P STAR. You can also go into airports and disable SID/STARS you don't want to have ATC use. Same thing for runways. You can disable the runways you only want to land on and enable only the runways you want to takeoff from.

They do have all the Airbus aircraft up to the 319 but you can add any aircraft you want. You will just need to let the program know its capabilities - a very simple process. As far as using the Wilco 320 FMC, that will be possible if you manually enter the flight plan then, when ATC provides you the runway for departure and the SID, you can go into the FMC dep/arr page and select it. Right now I think the program is going to be compatible with the PMDG FMC(s). That's still being worked on.

Jim

I see Fred beat me to my response above.. Thanks Fred!

Thanx for clarifying. This would be one major feature they need to implement. Who flies FS without any addon scenery?

Again, the gate system in the ProATCX FP is useless because you cannot load a ProATCX FP until you ARE at a Gate or on the active runway. So to run ProATCX, you need to go to the starting airport and gate location of your own choosing by starting up FSX, loading the aircraft, then the location and the gate, weather, and time (you can even load a FSX flight plan that has a gate already identified). Once you are at the gate, you open up ProATCX and activate the flight plan then contact clearance to get things underway. So you can use any addon scenery you want. Don't know where you got the info it doesn't work with addon scenery.

Jim,

What I meant was that the 'extra' gates are not selectable from the 'dropdown' . Yep, as you said you can start at whatever gate you want.

Next question would be, how in its present state would Pro ATC select the correct taxiways when the user has add on scenery.

I'm not being negative and I've also stated this over on the ProATC forum, but it's just the things that standout straight away, and as I think we know MBA will get them sorted.

OK, here we go. First flight with ProATC

1. I think the menu options are the wrong way around. Option 1 is Request Clearance. Option 2 is Request ATIS. I thought you listen to the ATIS before you contacted clearance with information 'X'. I'm sure I will be corrected if that is wrong. Told to taxi via Alpha and Golf. Hmm (looking at EFB ground chart; there is no Golf) and I need to go down more taxiways than just Alpha. Hold on inbound landing the opposite way(33), and Stop, there's traffic coming towards me on Alpha. I just pulled over on the grass, and waved as we passed!

2. when I was approaching a waypoint ATC came on and said 'cleared direct 'X' follow airway 'Y', flying heading 'Z'. Surely it's 'cleared as filed'. ATC will only change your heading/Alt for traffic etc. ATC doesn't have to keep telling to go to the next waypoint and please follow the airway. I know that; its in my flight plan....arrh! Please only tell me to deviate if you see a problem.

Background chatter, spot on.

This is the first program that has caused EFB to 'crash'.

3. I'm currently way passed my TOD and have not received any ATC clearance to descend. I'm only going to EHAM from EGBB, so its not far.

I'm now currently 5000ft above where I should be

I've know Idea of my STAR or arrival runway :P

Finally told to contact Approach and received vectors and active runway. i even asked for the ILS freq, pretty good.

Wow, approach was way to high and to fast. Now have a very high work load :o

Established on ILS and ATC still wants me to fly head 086. Speed brakes fully on, flaps fully down. (sure I've just heard screams from behind!)

No time for FMC settings, just need to get down in one piece. I've never 'twiddled' the MCP knobs so fast.

Landed, phew,. What now, hello ATC where do I go now! Ah, didn't see the 'cleared to land' option. Well, I was to busy trying to get down in one piece!.

Oh, FSX has now crashed

Right, lets read ProATC log, OK perhaps not, its in German

Seriously, not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think some of the errors were user problems. I am going to send the log to MBA and see what feedback I get.

Again, it doesn't make any difference if he shows all the gates at an airport in the ProATCX FP. The only good thing would be when clearance asks the pilot what gate he's sitting at he won't have to lie anymore. It's useless. When you land and, if you designated a gate in the ProATCX FP, ground control will tell you to taxi to that gate. Maybe you have FSDT's GSX program and want GSX to send you to one of their gates. It's not like the FSX FP system where you can designate a gate for departure and you will be set up there when you load the FP. ProATCX just doesn't have that capability and is only loaded/activated after you start up FSX and are sitting at a gate.

Jim,

Using my flight above as an example. What I'm saying is that unlessProATC knows about the Airport completely from the AFCAD or as Pete Dowson suggests from the makerunways file, then the taxi directions will never be correct. So you will always get a situation like I had. I was given the wrong taxi instructions and hence had to go on the grass and wave as I passed an oncoming aircraft. .

I haven't managed to experience the taxi after landing bit yet, as you can see from my above post. I have GSX, so when I get to that stage I will see what happens, when I have designated a gate in the ProATC FP and then use GSX to go to another gate. Hopefully ATC won't keep nagging me saying I'm going to the wrong gate.

You do not have to comply with ProATCX's taxi instructions. Ground will give you a runway for takeoff. You shouldn't be following their directions in any way. Ground controllers will not get upset if you don't follow their instructions. Be careful with ground AI as ground controllers will not tell you to stop because of another aircraft is in your path or a vehicle is in your path. For landing, GSX is the best. When you land in ProATCX, ATC will tell you to contact ground at such and such a frequency. If you decide to contact ground, ground will provide you with taxi instructions to a gate. I never contact ground and simply do not respond. I call up GSX instead and ProATCX does mind it one bit. ProATCX just does not have the capabilities on ground as does the FSX ATC program. Sometimes AI on the ground will see you and sometimes not. I know AI vehicles are running around many of the airports and are constantly trying to get in my way. If I had crash detection turned on, I would never ever get off the ground or complete a flightplan. A great program I use to control AI is AI Smooth. It works great with ProATCX. I almost had an air collision flying to St Louis out of Chicago the other day. AI Smooth saw the AI and told me to immediately descend (and I didn't). Crossing just in front of my aircraft was an American Airlines Eagle flight and I missed him by 2 inches. So AI Smooth is very accurate in handling AI in the air. On the ground, AI Smooth clears the way for me and gets rid of aircraft that might be in my traveling path. It doesn't work 100% but it's the best I've seen so far.

Best regards,

Jim
