Have you tried deleting all your preferences in the output folder? This can sometimes fix such lockups.

Enjoy your new beast!

This is also my recommendation.

X-Plane also conveniently logs all errors and warnings in the Log.txt file, you should probably have a look at that before you start blindly deleting stuff since the problem could be unrelated to your preferences.

I had the same issue using the newer drivers, I had to rollback to the 2 series vice the newer 3 series drivers. They have a new beta driver up you might want to try, but Im pretty sure if deleting the prefs doesn't work its a driver issue. I had a thread with the same topic here.

I just installed a new EVGA GTX 680 and I'm having this issue aswell,I'll try the above recommendations. Will I need to remap all my joystick settings?

Try putting back the joystick settings only. If it works, you're good to go. If it's the culprit, you'll know.

The joystick settings are saved in the file ''X-Plane.prf'' inside the preferences folder. I'm affraid if you put your old X-Plane.prf file back in, your problem with XP hanging on start would be back again too.

So your only chance to get your joystick settings back without having to configure it in XP again, would be to open the old and the new ''X-Plane.prf'' file with a text editor and copy only the joystick parts into the new one and save that.

Cool it worked! I forget to do this myself sometimes... Once you have your settings nice, take a copy of your preferences folder and keep it in a safe spot. Then, if u have to clear your preferences, you just copy them back from the good folder. Saves heaps of time. Hmmm, I better do that soon myself!

Try the new nvidia beta, 304.48. It fixed my issues with nvidia surround and hanging on the world init screen.
