June 16, 201213 yr For anyone considering getting Track IR5 - please note if you order direct from Natural Point, they do offer a 30 day money back guarentee, so if you find it is not for you, there is the option to return it. Don B
June 16, 201213 yr or you can try the freetrack software http://www.free-track.net/ or facetracknoir http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/ if you already have a webcam :Peace:
June 16, 201213 yr Does Trackir5 slow or use much of your CPU?. I have laptop an i7 2630 with plenty of RAM. GTX540 ,3ghz max. I actually run flight off my 55 lcd, I wonder if it would be possible with ir5.

June 16, 201213 yr Can anyone recommend a dealer for IR5? Is it only available on line? Can I find a dealer in Phoenix.
June 16, 201213 yr Amazon, or direct from NaturalPoint. No idea about your local options. It's kind of a niche thing, but a store that carries a lot of PC gaming stuff might carry it. If any of those stores still exist.

Also keep in mind you'll be wearing a cap or headset to use TrackIR (depending on your preference). If you want to go the headset route get the TrackIR 5 Pro bundle from Natural Point. Also make sure you can mount it to your headset (as in the headset band is narrow enough for the clip). Google Search is your friend. The software that runs uses a small amout of ram, other than that no I do not notice any performance hit using my Track IR5. I've actually found that on lower end hardware, TrackIR can be quite demanding. Mostly do to the excessive panning that puts more demand on the GPU. This is even more true in the FSX environment. But hey, you guys are here for FLIGHT! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
June 16, 201213 yr I do not notice any performance hit using my Track IR5. You'd better not---given that hot-rod rig in your sig :-)!
June 16, 201213 yr The Trackclip is definitely much better than the hat reflectors, it has LEDs and is less likely to be affected by sunlight etc coming in the windows. Friends have tried facetrack ad free track but they are not hassle free. You can make them work with alot of effort but going trackir from the start is the easiest and best way. Make sure to map a joystick button for re centering, each time you reposition in the chair just hit recenter. Same with trackir pausing, when doing lots of startup small buttons it can be useful to pause for operating overhead panels so no small head movements make you miss the button. Also I like to pause it on external views and use the hat switch in externals, trackir is best for the VC.
June 16, 201213 yr You'd better not---given that hot-rod rig in your sig :-)! Lol, I guess you are right. The Trackclip is definitely much better than the hat reflectors I may have to try that , I got the Track IR5 bundle when I updated so have it available, I just never wear a headset is the only reason I use the hat clip. June 16, 201213 yr Can anyone recommend a dealer for IR5? Is it only available on line? Can I find a dealer in Phoenix. I'm guessing here, but your best bet might be one of the two Fry's store in the area. One in Phoenix, another in Tempe. A visit to Fry's is always an experience!

I have my second clip attached to a headband, you know the ones women wear :) It works because the only time I can use speakers is when nobody is around, otherwise it looks even sillier than the hat!
