June 26, 201213 yr Yeah every time. It's like I'm floating above the seat! Flew with a couple of others and they said the same thing.
June 26, 201213 yr I'm not looking at it right now, but isn't there a selection in the Flight settings that will eliminate the head bobbing? That might be something to look at. I've never had the problem your describing except in FSX and I turned it off. Thank you. June 26, 201213 yr Hmmm... I have the head bobbing on still and am not having that problem. You may want to send in a bug report.
June 26, 201213 yr Do you have the Microsoft Flight profile selected in the TrackIr software? And if so, do you have it set to smooth? I just checked mine, and same as RoboRay, I have head bob turned on. In my TrackIr software, I did set the profile for MS Flight to smooth and it's working fine for me. another bug report! I don't think this is a bug as some of us are not having this problem. Most likely it's with your system and some of your settings. Thank you. June 26, 201213 yr Make sure you have the camera aligned correctly, and that your curves are reasonable. You can see all that very clearly in the latest software and there is a great video on youtube on aligning the Track IR.
June 26, 201213 yr MS Flight profile on. Tried changing Trackir to smooth.. bob on...same problem. ..bob off no floating.
June 26, 201213 yr I've found that when you "set trackir to smooth" using the template dropdown (where it says "Templates" in the image below) the trackir software merely shows you a ghost display of the chosen template in the background. This "ghost" display shows you how a smooth curve should look. You then have to actually (manually) adjust your curve's control points to follow the outline of the template curve. After doing that, save your profile. For the longest time in the past, I would select "smooth" from the template dropdown list, and wondered why nothing was changing when I'd go fly! It's because I hadn't actually changed my curve's control points! Your curve doesn't have to exactly follow the suggested curve, just the general shape. For example, your smooth curve may follow the suggested template shape for smooth, but maybe your adjustment nodes end up higher on the Y scale because you like the feel of that in the game.

If you go to the "titles" menu there is a drop down next to each title where you can select a TrackIR profile preset to use for that title (ie - FSX, Flight, First Eagles, etc...). If you select Smooth from that drop down next to Flight, you will be using the smooth profile. The "ghosts" you are refering to are when you try to create a new profile and select a template to start from. Then, if you select smooth, it will show you the curve for smooth, but you still need to drag the real curve to match it. But again, that's only if you're trying to create your own custom profile.
June 26, 201213 yr Thanks, malibu, I edited my post. I'll try your suggestion myself later, when I get home. Hadn't noticed that.
June 26, 201213 yr Do you have the Microsoft Flight profile selected in the TrackIr software? I don't see any Microsoft Flight profile to select. Is it there?
June 26, 201213 yr Microsoft Flight profile to select. Is it there? First update titles by clicking the updates button towards the upper right of the Trackir software window. That will update your list of games. Then, go assign a profile to it in the list of games. I think it will be "default" by default. I changed mine to a profile I created and tweaked especially for Flight.
June 26, 201213 yr You can also remap the Track IR Pause, Center, Precision, and Profile hotkeys as well to get them off those function keys that Flight uses. How specifically do you do this?
June 26, 201213 yr I believe it's saved per profile in the Trackir software. From the quick-start manual: Hotkeys Hotkeys allow you to map keys or buttons on other input devices to perform functions in the TrackIR software. You can select the keys to be used, turn the hotkey on or off, enable toggle mode, and trap the hotkey. Select the hotkey you wish to edit (Pause, Center, or Precision) from the dropdown menu. PauseThe Pause hotkey allows you to control whether head tracking data is being sent to the TrackIR Enhanced title. You can pause head tracking to keep the in-game view fixed, even while your head is moving. CenterThe Center hotkey allows you to re-center your in-game view. Every time the Center hotkey is pressed, it re-defines your current head position as the new center. PrecisionThe Precision hotkey enables precision mode, which temporarily steadies the view by increasing smoothing. When precision mode is disabled, smoothing settings return to the normal profile preset. Precision mode is commonly used in combat flight simulators when tracking an enemy in your sights to keep the view as stable as possible. Key ButtonUse to map the hotkey. Clicking these buttons brings up a dialog box that allows you to change the key assigned to the function listed next to the button. You can assign keyboard keys, joystick buttons, or mouse buttons as hotkeys. Enable CheckboxTurns the associated hotkeys on and off. Toggle CheckboxToggled hotkeys are enabled by a single key press and disabled by a second key press. Non-toggled hotkeys require the key to be held down for the hotkey to be enabled and released for the hotkey to be disabled. Trap CheckboxTrapped hotkeys will not be available to any other programs. Untrapped hotkeys will still perform the hotkey function within the TrackIR software, but can also be simultaneously used in other software that is running alongside TrackIR. Note : Hotkey settings are stored on a per-profile basis.
