June 19, 201213 yr I thought it a good idea to start a short thread for those who have been following the issues I have been experiencing with Rex Essentials, of which I have another thread on the forum. I hope it will be of benefit to those who have experienced similar issues and also to clarify that the problem has been with an error in my cfg. and not specific to Essentials. The issue of flashing clouds and textures under load has plagued me since the installation of Essentials. I have tried many different avenues to try and get to the bottom of the problem, but eventually after running a new Venetubo tweak, which incidentally I had been using for a considerable amount of time, I ended up with a new Bufferpools entry I run FSX via a start up with Orbx Go, which for some reason had changed the Bufferpools entry each time I started FSX. So each time I was starting FSX with Orbx Go, it was cancelling out the correct bufferpools entry! I am now a happy man and hope I can at last enjoy essentials as it is meant to be enjoyed. I'd just like to say how impressed I am with the support I received over at the REX forum and congratulate Tim and his team for producing such a great product. Cheers fellas... Hi Dave, the beauty of Orbx's Go, is that you can have access to your cfg via a GUI on the desktop, without having to access it manually through all the folders. You can then create separate cfg vales for different flying scenarios. eg. set your AG setting, weather sliders AI traffic differently when flying in different weather conditions or different aircraft. You can have different cfg tweaks for different aircraft eg one aircraft may be more demanding than another and so it is very easy to create different profiles for different scenarios. When you want to fly you simply launch FSX via the Orbx Go, clicking on whichever profile you want to choose... simples :good: HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
June 20, 201213 yr I had GO and binned it, its good but now I do it a different way. Create a short cut to your con.fig Set up a GA con.fig, save Set up a 737 con.fig, save I only need two so I just open con.fig/deleted copy and paste when ever I need to change. I don't like changing the same con.fig file as if something goes a miss like it did for you, you have no idea where. At the start of every month I build new con.fig's so there fresh. It's a 5 min job once a month to have 2 very clean con.fig's and they do not get messed at all. Each to there own :friends: David Murden. June 20, 201213 yr Author Just out of curiosity Rockliffe, which Bufferpools settings are you using? Hiya, well... this is all turning into a bit of a long story. It seems, even now, that things are not completely 100%, so I have been experimenting with the BufferPools entry and have come up with a single value of RejectThreshold=98304. On it's own it has not particulalry given me any more frames, although maybe 5% but what it has done is retain for me the smoothness that the BufferPools tweak gives. I have done away with UsePools=0, which seems to have been the problem all along. Most surprisingly of all, replacing it with the RejectThreshold value has allowed me to drop my water setting back from High 2x to Low 2X and in doing so given me some frames too, without any of the aritfacts that are often associated with the BufferPools tweak. June 20, 201213 yr Howard, I'm using the setting below that was created when I first ran the Venetubo cfg. I've never changed it. [bufferpools] RejectThreshold=131072 Glad to see you finally got REX Ess performing as it should. I'm highly impressed with both the visuals and the WX engine. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
