Whilst it is certainly true that not getting official assistance from EADS will not make things easier, it won't make it impossible to simulate an Airbus accurately from a user standpoint. After all, the pilots do not really need to know what the computer code is which is going on under the hood any more than we do in a simulation.

Therefore, as long as the pilot operating experience is an effective simulation of the real deal, it matters little exactly how it has been achieved. Thus with the assistance of some knowlegeable pilots and engineers with operational experience of the aircraft and a set of the manuals for the real aeroplane, one could certainly glean enough information to simulate the aircraft, regardless of whether EADS helped in an official capacity or not.

When all is said and done, who do you ask when you want to know what a Boeing 737 flies like; someone who has flown one for years, or someone who designed the altimeter and the seats?

Actually, come to think of it, the guy who designed the seats on the A340 is a mate of mine in real life LOL Expect me to create the most realistic A340 seat simulator very soon!

Because not everyone likes the 777 in real life, I'd chose a PMDG A330 over the 777 in a heartbeat lol

I was going to say blasphemy but I read "a PMDG A330". I'd choose both if they did that.

The PMDG 737NGX and an A320 from PMDG would be all I need for flightsim.

I still don't know if I should get the 777 but I guess when I see those previews I'll change my oppinion emmediately.

The project I am realy looking forward to is the 747-8i, which will be at the level of the detail of the upcoming 777 (as far as I know).

Regarding the Airbus, Aerosoft are working on their Airbus X Extended, which will be a medium addon, in terms of its system depth but it'll look good and will at least support SID's and STAR's. I guess this will be the best Airbus for FSX for a long time.

I am an "Airbus" man, since the majority of the aircraft flying around here in Frankfurt are Airbuses and I really like Airbus systems and the cockpit layout and the phylosophy behind them.

But since there is no full Airbus simulation for FSX and PMDG is making Boeings with nearly all of the systems for FSX, I'll have to live with Boeings :P At least untill I start my pilot training. :)

With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

+1

If there were decent (PMDG level) Airbus addons available for FSX I think I would never fly Boeing, but right now the PMDG Boeings (and MD-11 ofcourse !!!) is all there is for me... which, don't get me wrong, are fantastic addons ;p

I truly believe the FSLabs Airbuses will full the role of best airbus for FS. It's looking amazing.

Why don't you just check here if you're waiting for an A330/A340 (It's gonna be freeware, but I'm sure it's gonna be good): http://www.pafs.wf/d...php?f=10&t=2122

Because its just a model (an excellent looking one) with animations and a basic functional VC. I'm looking for something that has more to offer with the systems and such.

You do know you can merge VC's right?

You do know you can merge VC's right?

Mergin VC's isn't the problem here, It's the entire lack of a fully functioning Airbus product (no I'm not talking about A300's and A310's) for Flightsim.

Just like the NGX has systems simulation so detailed you can pull out a real world Boeing manual or FCOM and find the most obscure little detail on how something in some system effects a different system and replicate that in the PMDG NGX, some people would like to be able to do that with an Airbus too. I'd like to have an A320 and A330 so detailed that I can observe the differences in failure modes in the Hydraulics and their effects. I wanna hear the PTU on engine start and see the Hydraulic pressure shared between systems. Find some obscure feature of the MCDU which gets used about twice a year on any given real A320.

It's a pity Airbus won't come to the party, I wonder what it would take for Airbus to give PMDG Access to as much information as Boeing has in developing the NGX and 777's.

Oh well for the moment we can wait to get our FBW fix from the 777 ;). After 777 comes some 747's, and after that... who knows. Ok, so probably a Dash-8, but after THAT who knows :P

I really hope this FSlabs pulls off a workable A320. But I fear we may well be still waiting for, and pestering this forum for a PMDG A320 in 2022.

As one who likes Variety in aircraft, and an A330 fan, I hope we get something sooner than this, but in 2007 FSX was already released and there was no high quality 737 available for it. That was 5 years worth of waiting. With the A330, no addon developers have even announced any projects, nevermind being anywhere close to finished.

That said, I'm fully behind PMDG if they decide to stick with Boeing aircraft, it's obvious theyre on a good thing, and with the puported relationship with Access to Boeing material on an official scale, I'd fully understand (and even mildly hope) that we see a PMDG 787 before they start trying to make aircraft without that kind of relationship with the real manufacturer behind them.

I just hope that someone can convince Airbus to put their support behind an addon developer... and that addon developer is as thourough in their development as PMDG. Maybe PMDG's success may win Airbus over... or maybe theyre a stalwart that won't be won. Only time will tell.

It's not so much "wanting what you can't have" as "wanting everything". If I found a Genie in a lamp that granted me the ability to wish into existance any Flight Simulator X aircraft addon I wanted, we'd all have A318/19/20/21's A330's A340's B787's, A380's, Tu154M's, A310's, Q400's, 717-200's, Gulfstreams, Cessna Citations, 767-200's and -400's, Fokker 70's and 100's EMB120's Ejets and all sorts of fully functioning, no-detail-missed FSX aircraft coming out of our ears. :P

You can't compare the 777's FBW with Airbus' FBW, it's totaly different. The 777's FBW only controls some control surfaces but does not have any bank protection or stuff of that nature.

With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

Actually... you do, in some way. In an airbus, the plane won't let you go further than a specified angle of bank (60 degrees if I remember correctly, but don't quote me on that one.) The 777 will sort off do the same thing, but in a different manner.

When you approach the predefined bank angle on the 777, it will require a lot more force to go past that angle, through an artificial increase on the control wheel.

So while you may not be limited to a certain bank angle per se, it will require a lot more force to go past that predefined bank angle.

The 777 Primary Flight Control System has made full use of the capabilities of this

architecture by including such features as:

• Bank angle protection

• Turn compensation

• Stall and overspeed protection

• Pitch control and stability augmentation

• Thrust asymmetry compensation

Seem to be going round in circles here since this comes up at least once a month. I'll say it again, support from Airbus is not required, backing from an airline is all that is needed to obtain the full data, normally a deal is created with the airline to supply some form of CBT and get access to one of there LVL-D boxes, I have all the data required sitting in my study and I'm not even building an airbus simulation.

There is no reason why FSLABS, PMDG or anyone else couldn't come up with an accurate rendition within FSX.

Correct. But it would take them a lot more time than for the NGX!
