July 8, 201213 yr I've started using TrackIR last month when I bought a completely new rig. I was really looking forward to be able to use VC-view, but really wanted TrackIR complementary to Ezdok because I got really tired of having to pan around my view with the HAT-switch. To be honest, it wasn't the smoothest of transitions in my FS experiences. I was using the Seth - Flight which, judging from the offical forum atleast, is kind of the standard profile for FSX. I really wanted to like the overall TrackIR experience, but I have to be honest, it made me dizzy quite a few times. After reading this thread i gave the Andydigital-profile a try, which was, as it turned out, the first honestly enjoyable experience with TrackIR in combination with the NGX. Must say that I wouldn't want to do without my TrackIR, especially when flying GA, but as far as relying on a descent view in FSX, a proper Ezdok-setup makes me far happier (and a lot less seasick). July 8, 201213 yr I'm glad you liked the profile Michar, I really couldn't fly without TrackIR now. It is also very worthwhile programming a couple of buttons on your yoke or joystick to the Pause and Centre facilities in the TrackIR software, then you can pause the head tracking, move around as much as you like, then when you are comfortable again hit the Centre button then the Pause button again to get the head tracking going again. After a while you will be pressing centre then pause without even thinking about it and your neck will thank you for it, lol. Cheers, Andy.
July 11, 201213 yr Commercial Member Tbh I hated TrackIR, I sent it back straight away, EZdok with a joystick [and middle mouse button] is the best experience possible for me, I hate having to strain my eyes left and right and the BIG problem is, your hand is directly connected to your head, so it is so so difficult to actually turn switches. Do not buy it unless you love vfr Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here! YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK
July 11, 201213 yr I've been using it with my NGX for about three months. It was instantly addictive. It's worth the cost! July 11, 201213 yr I'm about to take the plunge too, but just wondering if the Trackclip Pro would make any difference and would be worth the extra money? Arjen Vandervelde
July 11, 201213 yr I have the pro-clip but I prefer the cap-clip TBH. And didn't really see a performance difference, unless the room you have your sim-PC in is very bright: in that case the proclip is the way to go. Cheers Federico Bellato
July 12, 201213 yr The main problem with the Track-Clip-Pro is the horrible wire going back to the receiver, surely they could have made a wireless version with rechargeable batteries. The thing is huge so there is plenty of room for a custom Linpak battery. Considering its only a crappy piece of plastic with three IR LED's its a bloody expensive upgrade, which I never use anyway and my room is extremely bright as times and I manage fine with the baseball cap spring clip. Just play with the light filtering setting if you are having problems in bright sunshine. Cheers, Andy.
July 12, 201213 yr I love the regular clip on my baseball cap. July 16, 201213 yr Also, the Pro Clip is built like crap and therefore insanely fragile. I'd recommend saving your money and just use the hat clip.
July 17, 201213 yr It is also very worthwhile programming a couple of buttons on your yoke or joystick to the Pause and Centre facilities in the TrackIR software, then you can pause the head tracking, move around as much as you like, then when you are comfortable again hit the Centre button then the Pause button again to get the head tracking going again. Foolishly stuck on the idea that I was doing something wrong because i had to put FS in windowed mode every few minutes again, just so I could bring up the TrackIR-software and re-center my setup. Got the buttons programmed now, has been a lot more fun flying ever since! Thanks a bunch for improving my experience 99,9%! Michar Breems
July 17, 201213 yr Moderator Another trick with TIR and the buttons, especially for those who say they have to crank their head around to see overhead, etc. On my rig, I have a rocker on the CH yoke or two buttons in close proximity on the X52, programmed for Pause(F9) and Center(F12) respectively. So now, say that I want to look up at the overhead and just tilting my head up doesn't get there. I could lean WAY back etc and get it but there is a much easier way. OK, I know I want to look at the overhead so I quickly look down, press the pause button then press the center button. I am still looking down at this point. SO I have told TIR that my head down position is the center. Now I lift my head and looking straihgt ahead or slightly upward I have the whole overhead in my vision. When I am done I look straight ahead and click pause, center and I'm back to normal. Works exactly the same for looking extreme left, right or down. It actually takes longer to write what to do than to do it. It's become second nature for me now and takes a split second to use the rocker switch. July 17, 201213 yr It's much easier to just purchase EZdok then you can create as many views as you like and assign key presses or Joy buttons to switch to them. EZdok and TrackIR in combination are essential for complex add-on aircraft if you want to primarily fly from the VC. My three top add-ons for FSX are; 1. FSUIPC 2. TrackIR 3. EZdok P.S. Vic you are not allowed PC specs in your signature anymore, that was the reason for the PC specs facility that you have filled out as can be seen under your avatar. Cheers, Andy.
