I'll buy Alaska for the scenery, big letdown on the Cub.

Am set for Alaska as long as the missions and challenges can be accomplished with already available planes. This means that the missions and challenges can be accomplished without using the cockpitless Cub.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Me too... After my initial negative reaction, I believe the area we're getting is huge...

Of course I don't know about the price yet...

Also, on another thread someone commented that on their page they wrote "version"... This may well mean that we will get a cockpit too, even if as a separate DLC :-)

Depending on what you folks say about missions/jobs after the release, i will buy Alaska. If it's the same damned boxes and groaning, sniffling nurses I'll pass, but if they have done something more exciting I'll give them my money.

I REALLY enjoy (still do) the stock missions in FSX and Expansion. I keep re-flying them over and over again.

If it's the same old with new scenery, then it's a no go.

The original announcement called for 1.2 million miles: (from Facebook) "

We're excited to announce some upcoming DLC: the Journey to Alaska Pack, with over 1.2 million miles of captivating scenery, new aircraft and additional missions! Check out our photos for some teaser screenshots."

Can we assume there will be a "part 2" of this scenery pack or did they just do some bad math? Just speculation, but what if they had to chop it up into 2 versions because it became obvious the Deluxe aircraft wouldn't be ready yet and would have to be included in "Part 2". Just looking for some glimmer of hope.

Chris

Yesterday I was disappointed to see the announcement of another "Basic" plane being offered as part of the Alaska package. But with more thought, I'm kind of happy about it. I'm more a scenery fan than a plane fan. While the thoughts of a full blown plane coming out are nice in a way, the fact is that it would be slower than what I have and within my work load there is only so much time for Flight.

If Alaska is (for example) $30, but would have been $40 with a Deluxe Cub I would have still gone ahead and bought the package. Alaska is an area that I want to fly in, so "having" to buy a Deluxe plane as part of the package to do it would have been tolerable. I'd much rather get a Basic version of a plane that I don't want to fly and save any costs for a Deluxe that has more appeal. Flittering around Alaska at 80-90kts would have worn thin after a while.

So I guess it boils down to what people want most. For me, it's scenery. For others, it's planes. Some want it all! Should be an interesting Wednesday, come next week?

600,000 Square Miles = 1.2 Million miles; nothing wrong with the math.

The original announcement called for 1.2 million miles

And the following day they corrected it to 1.2 million square kilometers.

Not much can be done to equate that to 600~ square miles...

switch to mouse mode for AP. Works like a charm

as real as it gets? too sad that a mouse now emulates the AP.

I’ll keep hoping for the autopilot.

Nope! It emulates a true FBW system (well, it might as well be the CWS on a true AP...)... the closest we can get to an Airbus in MS FLIGHT... Sorry for the joke ....

What if it is a 'wireless" mouse?

I knew a guy that flew for a Virtual Airline with FS9. He would take off in is Level D 767, set the auotpilot for a flight from JFK to Brussels, and then go to bed, setting his alarm clock to 20 minutes before ETA. Wake up, drink some coffee and land. Hand flying time total was about 2 minutes.

Sounds.... thrilling.
