September 12, 201213 yr Author I flew the Concorde X in DX10 for a while. That's from before the hacks. I don't recall some downside with that and I guess all that Andrew is saying is that it's not supported. Means if you run into trouble while in DX10, they can't help you much. That's what I was hoping to hear. I don't care if it has a small glitch here and there, just that it mostly works. Hopefully MarkW can chime in also with his Concorde DX10 experiences.
September 12, 201213 yr Some interview on the company (and plane). http://forum.avsim.n...e-concorde-r661 By the way, I have to fly her soon. Currently doing rather short routes in small airliners, 737 and E-Jets.
September 12, 201213 yr Why would we choose to support something that was only intended as a preview in FSX, and on top of that - is broken? You might argue that some recent hacks have fixed any apparent issues - the realty is the "DX10 Preview" in FSX has some fundamental failings in memory management that MS broke and failed to address in any of the Service Packs that followed. Therefore FSX DX10 Preview mode is not compatible with our product - if Microsoft choose to fix the issues in their "DX10 Preview" for FSX, it'll work fine. As a footnote and to answer your original question - Concorde-X is a very complex simulation and requires a great deal of learning. +1 Why would anone want to run FSX in DX10 preview anyway. Tune FSX to run smooth in DX9 and there should be no reason to use DX10 preview. Just my humble opinion. ^_^
September 27, 201213 yr I have the new DX10 hacks installed and I flew ConcordeX yesterday with only minor issues. The HSI had some glare from the sun as expected and tool tips don't work in full screen. Other than that it works perfectly and was a very enjoyable flight. Mark CYYZ
September 27, 201213 yr memory management that MS broke and failed to address in any of the Service Packs that followed. DX10 Preview was released with Acceleration. There were no service packs that followed. Dotnet is mostly used by Microsoft for memory management of their products and FSX addons. If the Concorde textures were converted to the FSX format and/or you have the payware Addon_ConverterX installed, the product will work with DX10. DX10 Preview works better than DX9 most of the time but not with all products. For instance, you fly the ConcordeX with AS2012 in heavy weather conditions and I'm almost positive the FPS will drop into the teens and maybe one digit areas. There are a lot of people enjoying this "fix" made by one of our fellow flight simmers. The fact that we can now have shadows in the cockpit as you travel in sunny areas provides some nice immersion into FSX and makes it a bit more enjoyable. December 8, 201213 yr Author Gave myself an Xmas present and bought this. I can't find the tutorial mission anywhere? What is the name of it? Starting to think things didn't install properly.
December 8, 201213 yr To quote Jeff Bridges in Starman: Red light, stop. Green light, go. Concorde...Go, VERY fast. BTW, that reference may only apply if you were alive in the 80's. The NGX and Concorde, in real life operations, do not line up at all. Glass cockpits alone take lots of the work out of instrument scans that take pilots years to develop. A beast like the Concorde has more dials than I have ever seen and the quantity of truly unique systems in that bird make things even more complex. The Concorde has more in common with the SR-71 than with the 737 NGX. Good luck. Daniel Fernandez
December 8, 201213 yr I can't find the tutorial mission anywhere? What is the name of it? It should be within your FSX folder and then FSLabs\Concorde\Documentation. I think the Win start menu will also feature a link. Good purchase.
December 9, 201213 yr Author LOL, there are 4 pages of info and I count 26 different switches and knobs just for lighting control. I was looking for a tutorial mission the whole time. I did not realize the tutorial was on 'paper' only.
December 9, 201213 yr Concorde- Hmmmmm: hard for any simmer, only really hard if you plan on learning what EVERY single dial, button, switch and lever do. Will Torrens
December 9, 201213 yr I guess you guys have a point. So many buttons to push (I like all those test thingies) and so much to explore, while one can't grab knowledge from other planes. I was looking for a tutorial mission the whole time. I did not realize the tutorial was on 'paper' only. It may not solve the problem on the mission, but there's a training product out. http://www.flightdeckproductions.com/ Other than that, perhaps some Youtube videos help. But the tutorial gives vital tips, so don't leave it alone.
December 9, 201213 yr Commercial Member We at FS++ are seriously considering multi crewing this challenging bird. We could add a virtual FO and Virtual flight engineer, and many procedures could then be triggered via voice. However, because this is THE most complex aircraft for FSX ever built, we aren't sure we can pull it off. We have successfully interfaced many aircraft that don’t have SDK, the last one being the Simcheck A300 B4 (classic aircraft) with flight engineer. But first, would like to make sure Andrew Wilson doesn’t disapprove. I mean, we don’t want to spend 4 to 6 months (full time) interfacing the aircraft, only to hear after that FSL has changed the EULA to prohibit this. If that’s OK, as soon as we’re done with the Coolsky DC-9 and MD80, will be buying a copy (wouldn’t mind a review copy ) and see if it’s doable. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
December 9, 201213 yr Author Should be simple question of the day, how do you turn off INS 3? Be darned if I can find this info in either pdf file. Edit: figures I find it soon after I post this. Seems when you open up INS 1 and 2 in their 2D panel, FSL gave you the on/off sw BUT when you open up INS 3 in its 2D panel, FSL decided to(for some stupid reason or another) NOT to give you the on/off sw. Dumb. Edit2: on/off for INS 3 is located in the FE left lower panel btw.
December 9, 201213 yr Thumbs up for the MCE featured Concorde X. That's from a fan though. Good catch, VeryBumpy. I always operate them via the FE's subpanel. All MSUs in one place. Do you know the INS system from some other planes by any chance?
