I've used AS since early on and have never bothered to switch. I like the weather it produces and for me it just works. I guess I am a little biased, but that's my $0.02 :)

Im very intrigued with Opus FSX. I will be watching its development closely as it seems to be doing several addon jobs in one program.

The way they are describing how Opus deals with the weather simulation seems to be a new, fresh and 'outside the box' way of thinking.

i have both Active Sky 2012 and REX E, and i use AS 2012 for the weather engine, and REX for its textures, AS2012's strong point is that it boots very quickly, and the way it projects the weather is the best out there. AS2012's weak point is its textures, while better than default, doesnt hold a candle to REX.

Ive read about this Opus addon, and im a little wary of all the things it promises to do. I tend to stick with what i know.

Hello

I tend to stick to developers that aren't discourteous to other developers that have a competing product.

I think MD may be referring to the somewhat disdainful way in which the dev refers to other products, such as EZCA, in posts on this site:-

I did not read anything disdainful there. He just said that some ezca effects were/felt fake to him ?

You need to keep in mind that very often if you do not like a product for whatever reason and you say so no matter how you say it some people will take offense and tell that you are bashing the product, harassing/insulting the dev and all the rest of that chit. The masses only find brown nosing and excessive praises acceptable.

Hahaha!! Absolutely agree, Man! There's not much on the Avsim-->FSX forum, thank XXX!

Hello MindYerBeak,

I'm using this addon now for more than 4 months and I really like it a lot. My PC is a standalone.

I use it in combination with RexE for their high standard (HD) Cloud Texture feature. The OpusFSX Live Weather Engine is taking care of the Metar data.

I also have EZCA, but IMHO this program is more for the video enthusiasts although I'm thinking of trying to use it together with OpusFSX. (the problem with EZCA however is that the program wants total control of too many keys and buttons).

It is a great pity you prefer NOT to receive any info from the devs directly. They could inform you best, better than anyone of us.

Having said this, the best I could tell you here is to read the numerous posts/reactions in all the forums where the devs are trying to explain best their software. I imagine you already did that actually.

The "MAGIC" of this OpusFSX (I'm referring to a part of the software called Live Weather Engine) is DYNAMIC WEATHER THEME

This makes the program UNIQUE.

I'm keeping an eye on it too but I have openly discredited this product (OpusFSX) for now as I posted in another thread due to their requirement that you set your fps at 25 to mask stutters it causes. That and the guy who supports it is quite rude - he called a user a "plant" before quickly editing his post to cover up his disgrace. The user who was insulted saw it though and asked for an apology which he got grudgingly. I will not be supporting any of this man's offerings.

Hi Kannwar,

Apart from my interest in this software as a buyer, I was closely following this post as a "FPS-freak".

I read that the dev was asking him time after time to please have a look at the "SPY"-window function which the program has as a standard feature. I might have missed it, but I never ever read an answer to this from the client. I'm sure that this would have solved the problem almost instantly I suppose. It's a pity, these things happen. I think, that if this would have happened to me as dev, knowing the in and outs of my prog, I would not have been able to end this post in a diplomatic way.

BTW: if you are interested in this FPS-item, I can recommend you this Tweak guide of "Word Not Allowed". It gave me the best FPS results I ever achieved.

I can certainly understand how the situation may have been frustrating for the pedlar but I don't think it's ever a good idea to sink to name-calling especially if someone has purchased your product (not sure if he had at that point but still).

And yes I am using Word Not Allowed's guide which tries to stick fps at 30 (the best value for FSX in my opinion) so no way will I be having any of this 25 fps tosh.

Thanks for your understanding response though Fdovillamil :good:

Hi kannwar,

I wasn't aware of the fact that you are talking FSX, I applied the tweaks to P3D and, I say it again, marvelous!

Nice talking to you tks.
