Cielosim's Airport Enhancer HDX

Featured Replies

I hadn't heard of this product until recently (someone on the forum mentioned the developer Cielosim, so I googled it and browsed their site.) It's called Airport Enhancer HDX and it has new runway/taxiway/sign/markings etc textures and they are AWESOME.

I realize the only way to get truly accurate and lifelike airports is to get the hand-crafted ones (like Orbx, Tongas X, etc) but for a general replacer, this works really really well. I have had REX for a couple of years and while its textures are definitely good, IMO AEHDX textures are much better. They are higher resolution as well. Check out the site, they have great screenies, and yes, it really does look that good "in person." This is my own screenshot

Best of all it's only ten bucks! If you are still using default airports (especially in those areas that no third party developer has had a go at yet) this works really well to spruce them up a lot.

I think I may have seen this before. Looks great actually. And for that price I might check it out.

I had a look at the cielosim site but I don't see those textures that are better than the ones that come with rex ?

I don't see why you wouldn't use REX?

I have Airport Enhancer HDX too and I love it.

You can choose from different tinted sets for each option. Also adds parking position markings and jetway textures with wear.

Low cost, easy install interface, no frame rate impact, nice results.

I have seen the pictures on their site but I still think REX is better :-)

I have both. Bottom line, HDX is twice the texture resolution and more realistic to boot.

I have used HDX for over a year, its a great add on to FSX, and like another poster said, no performance impact whatsoever, and Im still using old hardware.

Hey guys

Does this have any known problems with things like Aerosoft Mega Airports at all?

Would it change those airports I have installed or would it simply make them a bit better/no better?

I also have GEX installed too, so wonder if this would improve on that or no change?

GEX does not modify airport areas and thus runway/parking textures. They make that very clear in the flight1 support forum. I'm using HDX together with GEX and UTX and it doesn't interfere.

Payware airports bring their own runway textures, often photo real. The designers of these add-ons make sure that general texture replacements like HDX don't show at that particular airport.

Looks nice.....Shoulg I buy it to replace REX?

Well, only if you think it's worth $10 to improve your default airport textures. Personally I did because I don't use any addon airports (yet, anyway)
