"Microsoft Flight has detected a corrupt installation and will close now".

 

This has been happening to me more and more now. I think in the near future I will not be able to clear it out. The only thing that I've done prior to this happening, was purchase and download the Maul. The only other person on here that has brought this up is 188AHC and I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, and if so, how to fix it?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It happened to me once , yesterday. I suspect that Flight had never closed completely when I shut down my PC just prior to it, I was in a hurry and clicked it off quickly. Restart cleared the problem.

I'm not sure what's going on either. I never had a corrupt installation notice until a couple of weeks ago. Once I was able to clear it with a reboot, but the next time I had to completely d/l and install Flight all over again. Fortunately, all my DLC was recognized and I didn't lose anything except a job or two that I had flown the previous day.

 

My suggestion is if the reboot or using an earlier version of your career file doesn't work, then d/l Flight again. Hopefully that will clear it up.

Hrm, may as well use this thread as my first post. We've put together a beta to try to resolve a few lingering bugs for the community, one of them is this corrupt install issue, the other is a crash to desktop when first loading Flight. So, if you have been running into the corrupt install issue it would be great if you could participate in the Steam beta and let us know if you run into the issue during your time on the beta test.

Hi Loli, just glad to see you check in here. A little different crowd here. I for one have not had a problem with an install. Still flying every day the best sim I have found, still a lot to do here to keep us busy. Thanks again for your efforts to keep things interesting. What about unlocking all the aircraft in the hanger for use in any activity we would like to use them for, just an idea. Like the Stearman or RV-6 for clandistine missions, etc.

Glad you are enjoying Flight. While unlocking the different planes for all missions is nifty in theory, there would be a bunch of changes code side I would need to do in order to remove cargo limits ect, so it is really not something I can do.

I had a couple of drop outs today, but it appeared Flight just minimized to the task bar. I clicked on the icon, and was able to resume. I have had this a couple of times before but not in a good while. I have no idea why Flight would minimize.

 

Also, thanks too for working on the aerocaches. They are one of our favorite parts of the sim.

Well, the invading is, as I mentioned in an email to Tom, that Solicest and I are technically "them" so when you are here on a third party site, you feel safer than when posting on a site with our presence, we mostly just did not want to invade your house and start posting here, if it would make people in any way feel stifled or annoyed.

 

The minimizing of Flight is kinda odd, are you playing in windowed mode? If so, are you running other programs at same time? It could just be a focus issue where another program goes "gimmie that I need focus now" and minimizes Flight.

 

Oh, and again happy to do what we can with the Aerocaches, it's enjoyable seeing the new submissions people are sending too.

Many guys and some gals here have used Flight since early January. On the other hand I am almost sure many guys like me, don’t use steam, so any info you can share here with us or vice versa might benefit all,

Loki - In response to your question, I have nothing running in the background and am running in full screen. Look under my avatar, and click on my pc specs and you can see the system I'm running.

 

I admit, minimizing is weird. After the second one, I was able to complete my flight with no more problems.

 

Again, I welcome you here. Please don't feel like you and Sol are "them". We are all "them" in some respect. :lol:

As far as apologising for invading this turf, absolutely not necessary!

 

I use to hang at another forum, which seem to be slowely dying out from being overly moderated, trying to be politically correct, so I have been hanging over here for the time being.

 

L I B I an't got no learnen. I guess I need to do a little better job at proof reading. (At times I crack myself up.) lol I just went back and read my orginal post and apology for misspaling of Maule (Maul). But as I stated in my o p, it started after I download the Maule, (Spelled it right this time) however I also seem to remember it just might have started just after the Cone Island fix. This is the problem with getting old (C. R. S.). For those of you who can't comprehend this, you time will come, and then you will. lol again!

 

One other thing I need to check into, is that I am running on a high speed DSL with a Linksys router, so both my wife and I can be on line at the same time and what I've noticed ( she's running Win. Vista while I have Win7 64b) when I shut down my computer the light on the router turners off, where as when she shut down hers, the the light stayes on? Something to check into, but if I ever come up with something I will post it in here.

oh, the beta also addresses these corrupt installations? those were a reason way before MS dropped flight to stop play flight - I just could not start it in 9 out of 10 cases. so this might bring me back into the game now, literally. will check the steam forum. phil

 

edit: "In your Steam Game Library, Right Click on Microsoft Flight and select properties, then the Beta Tab. " so I need to be on steam? too bad. I made a account for getting in touch with you guys for me corrupt installation issues but I never actually installed steam, let alone purchased any DLC via steam. How do I now proceed from here?
