FSGenesis worth it?

I'd pay $50... maybe even $100 cause sitting at home simming is such a safer way to get familiarity with equipment that can distract you from flying the plane.

I got it all installed... Holy COW!! What a massive difference! My test situation was in the Rocky Mountains near Eagle Colorado. - The Rockies pop off the screen with such detailed terrain contours! Wow!!

Hi Ben,

I am one who still has to try a third party mesh so am interested in your comments. What FSG product did you buy? (Assuming there might be options on the US mesh product). When I read your comments I sensed there were textures or ground call as well as just mesh.

Living in CO I am anxious to see things as good as you are now seeing them in FSX. :)

Thanks, Bruce.

I have FSGenesis mesh for Europe and haven't noticed any 'plateau' problems with my payware airports. Maybe it's different for the US.

I'll try to get some screenies later. This is a combination of UTX, GEX, FSG, and SceneryTech Landclass USA.

I noticed my first one at KCVG. Wastn't all too bad though... Doesn't matter than much to me.

I've had one or two quite spectacular plateaus with decent sized Italian airfields in FSGenesis.

There is something called AFM - Aerodrome Flattening Meshes that is marketed alongside FSGlobal which purports to flatten any airport you want. Has anyone had any experience with this, and with FSGenesis in particular, since it says it works with any mesh?

Used FSGenesis terrain in FS2004 and use it now in FSX. I recall an update of the product at one time that reduced the occasional airport plateau problems somewhat, at least in the US. I rarely have any problem with them. Reinstalled FSX recently in new computer and couldn't believe how flat FSX looked prior to reinstalling the terrain. Been using it for so long that I take it for granted.

....is my opinion, but meshes for fsx, is a waste of money and time(and time is the more precious thing, more the all money in the world). Are fantastic in the beginning, but after repair or remove this, and after spending days fixing some crap.....no way.Save your money for something else....if is not too late

Don't know why you had so many problems, the FSG terrain couldn't be any simpler to instal, and other than the rare terrain anomaly I have never heard of it having any bugs. perhaps when you "downloaded it the other way" you got corrupt files.

Yeah, I own all FSX FSgenesis meshes and I have also created some meshes myself, never have had any other problems than plateaus in areas with some major elevation differences with FSX default terrain and real world. Only once I have had really bad plateau, and fixing it was relatively easy anyway.

If I have to choose between some plateaus and flying world where all the mountains look like blurry hills I will sure rather take plateaus, without proper mesh looking outside from cockpit is totally pointless.
