October 3, 201213 yr Agreed, especially the cliffs it creates at the threshold of runways at major airports and the lakes that appear on the top of 1000 foot hills in the midst of otherwise flat terrain. But for the money (practically free) it is generally an improvement. I've also returned to default mesh for this very reason. Regards; Fritz installed, tried, and after see a lot( but very a lot) of airport in a middle of a grand canyon, or in the middle of the clouds, and a weird moments, and missions impossible to complete in almost of all case, disinstalled and now Im very happy with the default mesh, I want fly no repair something every second in the scenery. If you pay someyhing, pay for something well done.Always, before buy something, I download it "in other way", if I like, i'll buy it, if not, I saved my bucks for something else....is my opinion, but meshes for fsx, is a waste of money and time(and time is the more precious thing, more the all money in the world). Are fantastic in the beginning, but after repair or remove this, and after spending days fixing some crap.....no way.Save your money for something else....if is not too late
October 3, 201213 yr Author What is strange is that I have yet to see any real issues with FSGenesis. Overall, everything works flawlessly. Not sure why there are so many haters...
October 3, 201213 yr Not sure why there are so many haters... I hope I'm not included. I use FSG in both FSX and FS2004 and would not be without it. I just pointed out to the original poster that it is not perfect. That there is a plateau problem with addon airports and lakes is beyond dispute. Most people just put up with it I guess. Scott, thanks for the offer but I've tried and failed. Sometimes, I need to remind myself that flight simulation is something I do for pleasure! If someone else can find a way of removing the plateaus and will sell it to me for 20 bucks, I'll buy. Otherwise I live with them. John
October 3, 201213 yr Author Strange... I've yet to see ANY plateaus or visual anomalies. Works beautifully and I am never going back to default... I couldn't care less about some hardly noticeably terrain issues.
October 3, 201213 yr KLAS is one I can thnk of off the top of my head where the plateau is pretty obvious but doesn't bother me. Randy Swofford

I couldn't care less about some hardly noticeably terrain issues. You're just lucky. At one stage Justin at FSG had a special section for reporting these on the FSG forum. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/283198-fsgenesis-freeware-top-ten-airport-plateaus-in-the-fsx-world/ A while back he closed that forum down. Users have to re-register to see the new forum. I did, just now. The reports are still coming in..... I chose these at random tonight. They are not supposed to look like that, I guess. I could be wrong of course! EPKK, Krakov, Poland Kodiak, AK John
October 3, 201213 yr I'm still a fan of modified mesh too... Just an example of an anomaly... Eastern Colorado Regards, Scott
October 4, 201213 yr Works beautifully and I am never going back to default... I couldn't care less about some hardly noticeably terrain issues. Ben, Glad to see you are enjoying it. Sooner or later you will run into some plateau issues. It is a fact of life with any mesh. Once you get used to flying with it, as you have noticed, default terrain mesh is quite bland. For those asking about FS Global Mesh, their mesh is nice as well. I have used both and purchased a lifetime membership to FSGenesis sometime ago and use Justin's mesh exclusively now. Regards, Bob
October 4, 201213 yr Always, before buy something, I download it "in other way", if I like, i'll buy it, if not, I saved my bucks for something else.... You're new here, maybe you could better explain what the above means? Especially the "I download it "in other way"" portion?
October 4, 201213 yr Always, before buy something, I download it "in other way", if I like, i'll buy it, if not, I saved my bucks for something else I sense a call from the 'FAA' soon, possibly the shortest 'career' on record? Jay
October 4, 201213 yr I read somewhere that the airports have the same problems with being raised up or below grade no matter which one you choose so the ball is in your court mate the choice is yours to make. Oh and one other thing is that Justin is always looking for ways to improve things....John
October 4, 201213 yr FSGlobal is very good and I think its better at dealing with the plateau issues, better than FSGenesis is. But FSGlobal is a VERY slow install from the shipped DVD's. I spent the better part of a day doing both FS9 and FSX meshes, and that included a defrag after. Easy to install and I think its better than FSGenesis, but its very close in the end. I think FSGenesis is better because its easier to install, thats how close the two are quality wise. JH

I've been buying FSGlobal for years and it's good to know that both meshes are good choices. Robert Yunque
October 4, 201213 yr Always, before buy something, I download it "in other way" I might not be the smartest person on here, but I sure have an idea of what you mean by "in other way"...
