Number of NGX copies sold?

Yet I have no problems to tell someone my salary. If they ask for it...

See above, or the quote of my original post, below:

It's just one of those touchy subjects for some. Some find it crass to ask, or more accurately, be asked, what their annual salary is. I wouldn't ask anyone else because of this prevailing feeling, however, if someone asks me, I will answer their question. To me, salary isn't a pride thing, it's simply an I-can-fly-more-or-less-with-this-pay kind of thing. To me, it's not a pecking order (heck, we all know there are people getting paid more, to do less work, who may also be less intelligent), or a competition, or anything of that nature. However, I won't criticize anyone for not wishing to share, either for reasons of humility or insecurity, or simply not wanting to share.

Just like you, I would, but I don't take issue with those who prefer not to share.

Unless its good for the "Collective"? If your not a publicly held company and or a Gov't entity. There is no obligation nor reason to divulge sales figures.

Hello Mike, That question should never have been asked. If you were in business and had developed a product would you be prepared to divulge how many you had sold. Think about it. Richard Welsh. PS. I dont know why I bothered answering this Post.

Well Apple sold 5 million new iPhones in a week or something they said. I think they are in business too. However, having a business policy about not commenting on product sales is another story. I think it was a fair question to ask, but if "you" have been around here for some time you would also know PMDG doesn't share those kind of informations. But then again, you can have been around for a long time and also not know it since it's impossible to read every topic and post here as well..

There were 737 copies sold. Rumor has it that the T7 will sell seven hundred and seventy seven copies. This crazy world we live in...! Who care how many copies are sold? As long as PMDG keeps developing "as real as it gets", who cares what their sales are!

They're a public company. Part of their success is driven by high stock prices, which really only go up when you offer sales numbers like that. They're also in a different market sector, with a lot more of a cult following.

Apples and broccoli...

(Yeah, it's "oranges," but oranges are still fruit and I wanted more distance)

It was just an example to clearly point that "If you were in business and had developed a product would you be prepared to divulge how many you had sold." Albeit a bad example using Apple I agree, their stocks have gotten considerable lower since the iPhone 5 release. From around $700 to $652, so offering sales numbers after release didn't help much. Sorry ;)

I'm going to say around 2,000 copies.

There's only 95,000 users here on avsim. It's safe to say less than 20% active, and out of those a tenth interested in high quality payware. That leaves us at about 2,000.

Disclaimer: The above is a complete, nonsensical guess with no facts or hard evidence. Be advised that Robert is currently spilling his coffee on his key-board laughing at the above guestimation.

Probably around 5,000 copies... The hardcore FS community is really small guys...

I would guess a lot more than 10,000. Some of my tutorial flights on YouTube have achieved well over 10,000 hits, and if I'm picking up that number on a detailed look at a complex sim, you've kinda gotta imagine the actual number of owners is consideraby higher (since not everyone is looking up stuff on YouTube every day)

Robert S.R even said that the majority of PMDG users are not members or visit any forums...I have 2 friends they are pilots flying the the NGX IRL & have PMDG NGX, they don't have a clue about Avsim. So the Avsim member calculation won't get you far.

My estimation is +/- 25.000 NGX's sold maybe more....anyway it would be interesting to see the real figures...just because I'm curious.

Kind regards

Sure, the hardcore sim group is pretty small.

However, how much time have you spent on these fora? If it's more than a week, I'm sure you've seen your share of boneheaded questions, which don't really come from the hardcore group. That being said, the hardcore group being small isn't exactly an accurate evaluation of sample size.

Dr. Evil stated 1 million copies.... Lol, at least I entertain myself...
