October 19, 201213 yr Hey PMDG developers, I know this will sound pretty old fashioned but what do you tell me about start working on a high fidelity MD80 series, including 80,83,87,88 and perhaps a future expansion covering the 90. I really think this bird is a must in our hangar,Leonardo did a great job with his one,but interior textures are pretty weak. Regards.
October 19, 201213 yr They've already got the 777, 747v2 and DC6, not to mention the Dash 8. So I think you'll have to stick to the Leonardo one if you don't want to wait a thousand years for a PMDG MD-80. Thanks, Kevin L
October 19, 201213 yr Also, based on MD-11 sales, I would say the market just demands high quality Boeing/Airbus addons as these, obviously the most popular aircraft flying over the world today. Coolsky? Just released a DC-9 which has mixed reviews.. pretty close - old style - to the MD Brent Lewis
October 19, 201213 yr The DC-9 from Coolsky is "steam gauged" and they are absolutely reluctant to work on some sort of digitalization. I like having a FMS. The Leonardo MD-80 is cool but.. hmm... Little ugly. Maybe in 1000 years we can have a PMDG B-717.... Time will show.. Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
October 19, 201213 yr Signed. Just love watching those old 80's takeoff like a rocket, only to leave a line of black smoke Yeah! //John Johnson
October 19, 201213 yr It may be just me but I think the MD-80 is the ugliest airliner that has been ever built LOL However, I'd buy one without hasitation if PMDG did one... With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

Most of the DC-9s still flying are flown /A, at least those over here in the States. I continue to wonder how simmers even coped before becoming slaves to the FMS. I have to deal with radials, and frequencies and MATH?!??!?!? TEH OH NOES! For what it's worth, I bought it and mostly enjoy it. The small quirks don't bother me too much (as in, I believe the altimeter setting and altitude on the pressurization panel should be independent of the altimeter's setting, but hey...). Kyle Rodgers

Yeah, I like it too, its fun to fly the way I learned in a Cessna. I don't know why anyone would want to use the GPS in that thing. If you get lost because you aren't good at traditional navigation, then use the MAP and find where you are. At least then you realize its ostensibly cheating. The biggest problem I have with it is that it really taxes the system and I get the visual problems when I switch views too much. October 19, 201213 yr Always thought about a PMDG McDonnell Douglas MD-80 series aswell. But what Brent Lewis (flyerboy) has said is true. I'm looking and many others for a PMDG A320 or something else from Airbus and I would like to have an Embraer E-190 (E-Jets) series too. All these wishes... . So let PMDG finish their 777 and DC-6 and maybe their Dash-8. And don't forget their 747v2. Greetings - René Mosek - Future Owner Of: 'The PMDG 747-400 V3' B)
October 20, 201213 yr Or the expansion packs for the NGX. Or (as if we could forget it!) the Wood Pigeon. Gary Lowndes

I think this is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison, with the MD-11 having been produced in far fewer numbers than the MD-80 series (200 vs 1,191) and not being operated by many passenger airlines when the product came out. I'm sure there are many more MD-80s operating today than the total amount of MD-11s ever built. With that said, I still doubt PMDG would have a case to make one.
