PMDG 777 Is slowly losing it's fire

Featured Replies

It just does. For some people it works like that and i am one of those. Right now i have no interest at all on the T7, i just shifted somewhere else, BUT and this is the big but... Once it's released, all magic comes back and i'll spend more time with it than i should

I don't go posting my feelings in the forums though, because i know this is temporary and some people just won't understand ^_^

Good things come to those who wait .

For the OP.....I, along with others in this thread respecfully disagree with you. Perhaps that "losing the fire" is actually because you're acting like a wet blanket?

Bang, smack, right in the teeth

Nothing is loosing anything, we're all going to buy it so fast the servers are going to kneel... And we're all gonna buy it no matter the price

Wow... the hostility...

I'm hoping for a pre-Christmas release, but I'm not waiting either. "It's ready when it's ready". I just hope they exceed the standard set by the MD-11 (and I'll say it so there is no ambiguity - I think the NGX fell short, but that is my opinion).

Best regards,

Robin.

Ok....hold on, let me go and get some popcorn and a beer so I can sit back and laugh so hard till I nauseate my self (here we go again).

Considering we haven't even started the serious previews (cockpit stuff, video of it in action etc) and our track record with success in this industry - I find this rather funny. :P

FYI, a bunch of people told us this kind of thing with the NGX as well. I actually kept a small list of people who'd written telling us that they just couldn't take the "delays" (since we don't give release dates, I'm not sure how they could even say this) and were going to punish us for not releasing according to whatever arbitrary schedule they thought we should be on by not buying it, they'd "lost interest" etc. I checked that list against our customer database as the release proceeded - all of the names on it without fail had purchased it within the first 2 weeks.

Also, just as a wider question about this type of complaint - have you really learned and tried everything there is to do with the NGX? (and our previous products like the J41 and MD-11 for that matter) There's a ton of real life pilots for major airlines who've gone their entire professional careers flying just one airplane series/type and I can almost guarantee they'd tell you they still see and learn new things about it.

PMDG is taking such a delay, I think that the company is risking losing some potential buyers.

From reading multiple topics on FAcebook, and Flightsim.com, simviation, people are starting to brush the 777 idea of their shoulders, and idnoring it.

I think a lack of UPDATES is also another problem.

However, I support PMDG for their work, just a little observation of mine.

Maybe i'm the only one..

These popcorn remarks are more tedious than the posts they are mocking. <_<

i would love the J41 For Christmas, but, i'm not sure. I'm worried i wont be able to get used to it like i did with the NGX, becuase it looks wayy more complicated

but, it would be a nice waiting product :)

J41 has a few quirks, but it is quite a simple aircraft to operate. The FMS is not as feature-rich (they say it is because it is a "lite" product) but IMHO the HOLD function should have been included - the option exists not to use it. Spoils the immersion when you have to remind yourself it "doesn't do that". No failures - fine, but cutting features?

Anyways...

It is tough to hand fly properly - it will make you work for it - and is otherwise rather nice.

Best regards,

Robin.

The real life J41 wasn't even technically certified for FMS/GPS use as the primary navigation source - you had to always back it up with raw data. How many here even know how to fly a hold using the EHSI and a VOR alone? You wouldn't be let anywhere near a real transport category aircraft without knowing that... Someone with thousands of real life hours in the J41 was involved in the decision to leave that out of the FMS - I remember the internal discussion well. If he was ok with it, you can bet it wasn't something that was super regularly used while flying the line on that particular airplane. If you file /A or whatever online, ATC is required to not give you RNAV procedures, holds at FMS fixes etc. This is how the real thing was flown.

Ryan, requirements aside of real-world flying - if it is a feature of the real aircraft, and you included in 10 products before it, it's nice to see it implemented, regardless of how often it is really used. B)

...and yes, I can do a hold on raw data. I can do an entire flight with just a stopwatch and compass. You'll be interested to know that even GPS requires backup (IRS or dual VOR/DME).

Best regards,

Robin.

since we don't give release dates

Just want to say that I hate this ...

Without reading most of the posts further down I have to say the way the OP's first post and third one is worded the only one mad is him.
