I have a issue with previous version of REX with the winds at altitiude, say cruising at FL290 in PMDG 737 and the wind rapidly changes until my aircraft is over stressed as it goes massively overspeed. Really annoying as I have spent 45 min flying only having to start again? I am thinking of upgrading is this issue resolved in new REX?

It would be more fabolus if they fixed the abrupt wind shifts aloft & also to have right winds aloft :mad:

I'm having severe wind shifts between 0-360 deg back & forth the whole time at cruise, very annoying when flying on Vatsim! & my indicated airspeed changes the whole time 30-50 kts, back & forth due to erratic wind shifts.....

I'm getting pretty fed up with REX E's "accurate weather" advertise right now :Waiting:

Hmm. I'm not seeing that but I am seeing some big shifts in wind that can occur abruptly but not back and forth like you describe (30-50 kts). I would imagine when you are flying at a speed of 420 kts it's possible to have abrupt wind shifts in the world, no?

I have REX plus overdrive on my computer now with FSX. I am thinking about going with essentialspgrade by purchasing the combo on FSS both download and DVD. I have hear horror stories about the long downloads for essentials and then there are some hurdles you have to jump through to do the install. I was wondering once I make the purchase that I just wait for the DVD and do the install that way. Can anyone tell me if I have to uninstall REX first before I do both downloads from the DVD?

I haven't tried the download these days, but my guess is that it should work just fine now. Remember, as it started, a ton of folks downloaded at the very same time. This won't be the case right now. Well, not in those magnitudes. But getting the DVD also makes sense, you are right.

 

As for installing, the usual tips apply. Turn off the antivirus for a moment and run the installer and the later rex.exe as administrator. That's with right clicking them and picking that option.

 

The only loop to jump through may be the forum registration over at REX. But that's easy and the folks are fast with confirming you as a valid customer, which then allows full access.

 

On the actual installation, you can pick two paths. Keep in mind that any of those should be free for you as an existing customer. You don't have to buy REX Essential, you can already download it. For DVDs, there may be a small fee of course.

 

First, you can upgrade your current installation to REX Essential Plus Overdrive. See the pdf in this post. Your upgrade path with having the older REX2+OD installed is the lower one. http://www.realenvir...e-announcement/ Those upgrade installers only come via the REX forums if I'm correct. Mind the version numbers.

 

Or you can get fresh 'base' installers, which later means that you have to uninstall the old REX2+OD and then install REX Essential Plus. As you like. Those fresh installers should already be in your FSS account whereas the Overdrive part (mainly more textures) only comes from the REX forums.
