FSD Piper Navajo, thoughts?

Featured Replies

Ahh it's really old and not FSX native... I'd look at the Cheyenne from DA first... (that one is the turboprop version of the Navajo)

Compared to the Duke that FSD Navajo is old old old lol.

It may be old but it flies very nicely in FSX. It's still one of my favourite aircraft and (for me) has the perfect 2D and VC layout. Authentic handling and sounds as well.

The only thing that sometimes irritates me about it is the lack of a more modern GPS but the one included in the package was authentic to the real aircraft at the time so I can't really complain.

If you've got the cash I would recommend it despite its age.

I am also an FSD Piper Navajo/Panther owner and it was definitely an FS9 model that was ported and more or less "fixed" to run in FSX. It looks nice and it flies nice, but the fuel consumption rate is too low, fixing that requires a simple line edit in the aircraft's cfg file. The fuel tank selector in the VC is odd in that the starboard tank selector works backwards (selecting the inboard tank actually selects the outboard tank), and some of the overhead switches do not work correctly in FSX. The cabin exit is quick to open, but it takes awhile before the door closing animation kicks in and closes the door. I've flown it a lot and despite it's drawbacks it's a fun little GA plane to fly.

Here is an excellent review.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

I use to fly it all the time in FS9 and really enjoyed it, however I never purchased the FSX version but from that price I might....

As others have said, it's ancient, and it shows!

But at $14 it may be worth it.

but if you expect it to be anything like the RealAir Duke, or any modern day add-on, you'll be disappointed. Think "$14" and you might enjoy it!
