Shoreham Airport but in FS2004

Featured Replies

Was reading various forums today and it seems that England is in the spotlight again especially with the England scenery by Orbx out there now.I do not have that scenery just yet but thinking about all the airports that will probably be Orbx'd, I thought I would run my FS2004 setup, which I have not done for a while, went to my payware Shoreham airport scenery which I got in 2005 and downloaded the latest weather from a very old version of Active Sky, version 6.5 and took some quick screens of a quick flight around the airport just to compare what I have now and what I will have when Orbx will work their magic. This scenery for Shoreham was and still is very, very good. Even though I use FSX more these days, I still think that FS2004 has a certain look and charm to it, as well as nice, smooth frame rates.

Lots of Ai traffic and static airport sitting on the ramp. The weather looks very typical for November too, grey, murky and overcast.

Overview of the airport, was realtime weather at the time using ActiveSky.

Another view of the airport.

Low cloud passing by

Lancing College and the Cathedral. Was great that the scenery included these.

On approach with Lancing Cathedral in the background and the animated train which you can pass over on the approach.

One thing I had forgot about this scenery was that the clock that you can see on the terminal building actually works and has the same time that the sim uses. Love the art deco looks of the terminal building.

Addons used.

Online Simulation Solutions - Shoreham 2005 (Not available anymore I think, sadly)

Flight One Ground Environment Pro

Flight One Ultimate Terrain Europe

Hifi sim Activesky 6.5

AI traffic, Cessna HTAI pack and various AI packages I have found over the years.

Nice looking shots!

Not half bad, for scenery from more than half a dozen years ago!

Nice touch, that clock.

Of course the bar has been raised with stuff like recent UK2000 releases.

I have a similar base install to what you list, and I'm more than pleased with the result; especially performance around the airports with busy AI.

Yes I agree, Still some nice addons coming out for FS2004. I always try and get those addons which come with a FSX and FS2004 version at no additional cost, Flytampa Dubai comes to mind and anything from FSDreamteam and UK2000 as well.

I have alot of things from Lago as well who ended up creating alot of great scenery and airports in tandem with Richard Goldstein, Emma Field and all that great scenery from FSAddon, Misty Fjords and Tongass Fjords for example.

I still think that FS2004 has loads of life in it yet.

Orbx has now realeased their own version of this airport for FSX.

Actually Just Flights Flying club includes a very nice version of Shoreham airport.

At least it did in the version I bought.(some years ago now)

I believe they now do an FSX version of FC as well.

cheers Andy

Hiya Horatio, the version that was bundled with Just Flights Flying Club was the same scenery. It came as part of the package. It was never converted to FSX so when Flying club came out for FSX it did not include the Shoreham scenery but just the aircraft.

I had forgot about that so if anyone can still pick up a copy of Flying Club for FS2004 then they can also get hold of this scenery which is not easy to get hold of now on its own, if at all.

Cheers.

Drat, you blinded me with the glare of the sun and bloom, lol. Just kidding. Nice shots there and like someone else said, not bad for a scenery that was from 2005 and still looks good today.

Hello Craig

Have just had a quick look at the Just Flight site ,and found that they are still stocking the original Flying School for FS2004 (as well as all sorts of new versions, one that does not include the Shoreham scenery ,but a an airdrome called Denham and another that (as you said includes no scenery at all))

PS Failing that I am willing to rent out my copy for a mere £800 a time) JUST JOKING ,ITS a Joke ,IT REALLY IS ! i MOST definitely not promoting piracy ,ITS just a joke.HA HA HEE HEE!

PPS i am going to re-install my copy of FS Flying school and give it another look .

Don't no why I uninstalled in the first place as I remember it being rather nice .

Anyways cheers All

It was just a joke.

REALLY!

I reinstalled the flying club package ,(the original version ,about six years old) there are various newer versions. I am really glad I did.The Shoreham scenery is very good ,and the aircraft that come with package are also first class .(apart from the sounds ,which I suspect are true to the real planes ,but are rather flymo-ish nonetheless ,could become grating on a long flight )

Anyways I am glad I read this post in the first place ,as rein FC has been a real positive.
