Default Aircraft, Not good anymore

Featured Replies

Once I got the RXP FLT/FLN gauges installed in the default C172 and Baron, and upped the pixel resolution in the panel, they came back to life..

As mentioned above, they are still the benchmark for any comparison and if anything wonky happens

in a payware aircraft, the default C172 is the first thing to go back to as a test.

I've got the Metzger airfiles installed and have no complaints about the handling..

Now, I'd rather fly the Carenado C182Q (modified) - but it is a close thing..

For our LJ45 sim, we use the default LJ45 with a few tweaks here and there. Overall, a great flyer. But, I'm not saying that I do not wish a 3rd party would develop a LJ45.

How do you "up the pixels" in the C172 VC? FWIW I'm not using RXP gauges...

I, too, fly the default C172 as well as some other GA planes, such as the Goose (with the Oz mods) the Maule, and sometimes the Extra. For most other GA aircraft I've found some good replacement (I'm especially happy about the Carenado B200, because the default VC was just ugly). I also try to fly all of the FSX missions, and there I replaced most planes by addons to get a better feel, but for some purposes, the default aircraft are just best suited.

If I feel the need for airliner flying, I tend to use default planes or their "extensions", as someone called them here, but mainly the 737 and the CRJ, as the 747 is one of the worst default planes (probably together with the King Air), and the Airbus's protections tend to be extremely unrealistic (Getting the Alpha Floor protection on the last few feet on a manual approach leading to a missed approach is just annoying!).

I sue the default glider, the Extra 300 and occasionally the C172

What did they do wrong that you sue them?

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

They made him an addict! Lets sue them all together.

The default 172 is the only one I still use, it still feels adequate. But when A2A and/or Realair 172's are out, I'll have flown my last flight in a default aircraft.
