NEW! POSKY/SkySpirit-PSS Boeing 777-200ER Merge Packages!

Mike,

Thanks. b I have tried numerous different light sections. If you download file updateinfo.zip from the sky spirit website there is a file in the zip titled 772_aircraft.cfg_commentout.txt and in there it says "Lights under are not needed so needs to comment out like this" then below that is a lights section showing

[LIGHTS]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo

//light.0 = 1, 28.600, 0.000, 11.400, Opensky_beacon ,

//light.1 = 1, 0.000, 0.000, -10.000, Opensky_beacon ,

//light.2 = 5, -112.000, 0.000, 3.500, Opensky_nav_yellow ,

//light.3 = 5, 32.700, -10.000, -2.300, Opensky_nav_yellow ,

//light.4 = 5, 32.700, 10.000, -2.300, Opensky_nav_yellow ,

light.5 = 4, 101.000, 0.000, 2.000, Opensky_747_vclight ,

light.6 = 3, 25, -30.250, -2.3, Opensky_wing_light ,

light.7 = 3, 25, 30.250, -2.3, Opensky_wing_light ,

//light.8 = 9, -90.000, 11.000, 21.00, Opensky_wing_light ,

//light.9 = 9, -90.000, -11.000, 21.00, Opensky_wing_light ,

However I downloaded a Royal Brunei 777-200 using the skyspirit model that was recently uploaded to avsim just to see how it looked using the new model and it's light section showed something different than the above light section.... I have tried so many light combinations now I cant get back to the normal lights look in fs2004 no matter which light section I place abck into my acft.cfg... No clue here...

Hi, Comicpilot,

See if you have the following files in the texture folder for the plane that is giving you problems:

SSP772_L_LIGHT_FORE.BMP

SSP772_L_LIGHT_REAR.BMP

SSP772_R_LIGHT_FORE.BMP

SSP772_R_LIGHT_REAR.BMP

SSP772LIGHTS.BMP

I installed an older texture from a posky aircraft into an aircraft using a Skyspirit2012 model and it had the same problem as you have. It did not have the above files in the texture folder. When I put them in the folder and reloaded, it worked! You should be able to find them in the texture folder of the complete aircraft you downloaded.

I have the same file with the [lights] section you posted above, and it works with those entries (may work with others).

(I wasn't using a PSS merged aircraft but I doubt this makes any difference).

Am curious to know if this is the problem.

Further update:

The two following files changed the tail of the aircraft to a different livery. Removing them fixed the problem, but the cabin lights feature of the newer model no longer works.

SSP772_L_LIGHT_REAR.BMP

SSP772_R_LIGHT_REAR.BMP

Mike,

Thanks for the help! Yea last night I downloaded another SKYSPIRIT 772 from avsim and sorted through what could be causing my PSS merged stuff to not work... Then I went in and retried the merged stuff and was able to get the lights back... I too now know you must have SSP772LIGHTS.BMP for the lights to work... I got it all working now but do not like the nav lights on the skyspirit 777. The nav lights on the 767s are the newer design that flash onthe ground but they are bigger and brighter... oh well beggars can't be choosers. Thanks for the help..

Anyone else getting excessive fuel burn at idle on the ground? (Like 4 times normal values...in the 15,000 lbs/hr range)

I'm not near my pc right now but I think the "fuel scalar" in the aircraft.cfg controls the fuel burn rate.. Check that number. I take it you mean sitting idly on the ground like while waiting to takeoff or sitting at the gate?

Yes, engines running, at idle, on the ground.

Adjusting the fuel scalar adjusts fuel burn during all phases. It seems accurate in-flight, just not on the ground.

Hi, CaptKornDog,

I am seeing this issue in the unmodified PSS 777-200LR, using their FDE, as well as in Nandan's modified FDE. Never noticed this before! Are other people seeing this in the unmodified PSS aircraft?

Hey im back from my holiday so time to answer some questions!

Regarding fuel burn on the ground, i have noticed the problem too, but ground and taxi fuel is such a small factor that i suggest just loading up more fuel for the taxi. I dont think it is possible to change this. Changing the fuel flow scalar will stuff up the fuel burn for the flying fuel burn portion of the flight, which is in my opinion, more important than the ground and taxi fuel burn.

Hi Nandan, will you also merge the other 777 types in the near future?

There are assorted ways of doing this via the .air file, not just fuel flow scalar.

Guess I'll take a look and tweak for myself.

Hello everyone,

As you would know, my mate and I made the POSKY-PSS Boeing 777-200ER merge for Singapore Virtual Airlines which was available for download a while back. The good news was, it was successful & heaps of you enjoyed it (well i hope so) haha! I know that you don't just fly the Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-200ER aircraft either, and that there are other Boeing 777-200ER models too.

Well now the merge has been updated! Not only that, I have made merges for all 3 engine variants! That is, the Pratt And Whitney PW4090, Rolls Royce Trent 892 (how to make a Trent 895 engine variant has been added in the readme) and General Electric GE90-94B. Correct thrust settings and aircraft weights have been applied for each variant. There is also a Shockwave 3D light configuration included for you too install if you like using Shockwave 3D lights on your aircraft.

The latest SkySpirit models have been included in this merge packages and countless other updates such as the latest POSKY Utility etc.

Here is the full list of FEATURES (also included in the README):

  • VNAV fixed. Now the aircraft will climb to the desired altitude faster.
  • Fuel consumption matches real world fuel consumption. The fuel consumption is based on flight tests done against the real flight. A 777 Captain sent flight information from the real aircraft from the ground and during flight (fuel quantity, MTOW etc.) and the exact same flight with the exact same weights and fuel was done on flight simulator at the same time and in real time. This was done several times alongside several real world flights (taking off same time as the real one, flying from the same departure airport to the same destination as the real flight).
  • ILS: Localizer interception is much smoother than previous merges.
  • Correct thrust setting in the FDE, according to the thrust the real world engines produce.
  • Remade FDE: air file and aircraft.cfg were remade according to the 777-200ER specifications and performance.
  • Correct takeoff distance.
  • Drag modified so the aircraft doesn’t gain too much speed at idle throttle on descent as before.
  • When the aircraft is light, it will be able to taxi at idle throttle, just like the real world aircraft.
  • Fuel dump effect modified. It is the Project Opensky vortex effect not the PSS green fuel dump effect - a white streak will now flow from each wing when fuel is being dumped.
  • Weights are according to the real world Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
  • Auto throttle works without a problem.
  • The 777’s flight characteristics match its real world counterpart, the creator has a 777 simulator type rating and so the flight dynamics are as realistic as they can be. His father is a real world 777 Captain. The merge flies very realistically.
  • The latest POSKY utility has been added to the merge (i.e. refuelling trucks, catering trucks and the pushback tug etc.). To view and use it, when flying: press “Alt” then go under “View” then “Instrument Panel” and click “posky util”. The latest animations will be shown.
  • When you load up your aircraft, all the weight will act at the centre of gravity of the aircraft.
  • The aircraft and its performance have been tested against the real aircraft using real flight data. The merge has been made to fit that data and real flight characteristics, and match the real aircraft as close as possible.
This is the newest merge for POSKY/SkySpirit-PSS - PSS Panel and POSKY/SkySpirit Boeiung 777-200ER models, (reference November 2012). Later SkySpirit models can be downloaded and updated by yourself in the future for this merge (if SkySpirit release newer models).

Simple download and fly package.

So here you go! Download and start flying!

Pratt and Whitney PW4090 engine variant: http://www.mediafire.com/?1p7h95n3303xxuc

Rolls Royce Trent 892 (and Trent 895) engine variant: http://www.mediafire.com/?r0s9ynr3xhd1g83

General Electric GE90-94B engine variant: http://www.mediafire.com/?s69zllkfc608mmh

YOU MUST OWN THE PSS 777 PACKAGE TO USE THIS MERGE. ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE MERGE ARE INCLUDED IN THE README's. Thanks to PSS for their panel, and POSKY/SkySpirit for the Boeing 777-200ER models.

I have decided not to upload a Boeing 777-300ER merge because data for fuel burn and flight characteristics etc have not been obtained yet. And flights have not been tested against the real aircraft yet. Once the data has been obtained and an updated FDE etc has been made, a merge MAY be released, not 100% sure at this stage.

Is the VC fully clickable with this update?

No. The Opensky VC is hardwired into their model. Their models were not designed for the PSS VC gauges. It is possible to substitute PSS gauges for some functions such as PFD, HSI, but for many functions you will still need the 2D panel -- the overhead panel, for example.

I believe that Nandan used newer Skyspirit models (same folks as Opensky) but these models don't have VCs at all. So to get a VC you will need to download the appropriate Opensky model(s)with VC available here:

http://poskyarchive.com/category/boeing/b777-200/

Then you will need to substitute in the various gauges in the panel file using the Opensky VC coordinates. You still won't have everything working: no clickable VNAV, LNAV, autopilot on, etc.

Hi,

looks like a very nice work so I wanted to fly it today. But after departure I had some bumping of the plane letting it going up and down, up and down all the way towards my final flight level.

Also the F/D jumps up and down. It's around 5°-10° according to the PFD.

When I reached my final FL the bumping is getting fewer but it's still present.

How can I fix that? Is there an update I missed?

Using:

FS2004

Windows 7 x64

Active Sky Evo

Greetings Eddi :smile:
