December 10, 201213 yr Can someone please post a install this tutorial for dummy's? I downloaded Pete's latest FSUIPC version (the K one) but I don't know what to do with the .dll file inside the zip. Also I can't open the .dll file to insert PatchSIM1friction=Yes into it. Please help Thanks Angelo Corredino Angelo, before doing anything, you need to install the FULL version of Fsuipc. Then, extract the "K"version into FSX\Modules directory. You must run FSX, load a flight to initilize FSUIPC. and during first run say "Yes" to accept the addon module to run in FSX. Once you have done that, close FSX, go to your fsx\modules folder and you will find a FSUIPC.ini configuration file, at the top under "General" place the following: PatchSIM1friction=Yes Do not try and edit the DLL as you posted. December 11, 201213 yr Can some one supply a link,I couldn't find it on Peters site. Here you go. http://fs-mp.com/sim1/ Angelo, before doing anything, you need to install the FULL version of Fsuipc. Then, extract the "K"version into FSX\Modules directory. You don't need the registered FSUIPC. You can use the mod with the unregistered version. The registered version allows you full control of the changes, rather than on/off for the unregistered version.

Registered or freeware, does not matter. For one, there will be no Modules folder and no entry in the DLL.XML by just extracting the update, which I believe Angelo was trying to do.Sounds like you took the "Full Version" as meaning Registered, what I meant was the base version. Ah, I see what you mean. I was assuming no one would be without a copy of FSUIPC. Some addons install it for you, as it's necessary for them to work.
December 16, 201213 yr I will give the file a test to compare. My biggest complaint about friction in FSX is crosswind landings and takeoffs. I find real life crosswinds easier than in FSX. Hi Rick Have you tested the tweak with the NGX? I don't want to loose any realism (landing & take-off perf.) on the NGX vs. the tweak, would very much appreciate your opinion on it. Kind regardsR.G
December 28, 201213 yr Summing up as of today, after applying FSUIPC modification, can anyone report if this modification on the NGX will make it MORE or LESS realistic, also with respect to performance parameters? Will the aircraft behave more closely to the real one with the patch or better leaving it as it is? Thanks. James Goggi
December 29, 201213 yr First impressions: the fully loaded 737-800 taxies very easy and unlike before keeps the line straighter in cross winds and minor thrust differences on the engines. The last one was a major party pooper for me as I had to constantly trim the engines for symmetric thrust, otherwise the nose swiveled immediately. Take off and landing in 15 knots crosswind was easily performed, again straight line maintained much easier than before. Now, the moment I tried 1/3 fuel and empty load, on idle with no brakes the plane starts moving forward fairly quick. Don't know how realistic is that but it appears with lighter loads to keep the taxi speed down one should "ride" the brakes. Overall I like the tweak. It makes the ground movement more precise and "yaw free". Disclaimer: I can't say if its realistic, as I never touched the real thing. I like how it feels on my FSX with my controllers. December 29, 201213 yr I tried this with the 737-800 and it was a real problem taxing. Although I could control the steering fine, I could not stop the plane with the brakes at all and had to abort my flight. I have used this with the default GA and it works perfect. Is a no-go with the NGX. The flight I was going to fly was KLAX to KSEA. The plane had a ZFW of 121800 and 19543 lbs of fuel. The plane started rolling as soon as I released the parking brake and that was it, couldn't stop it. Strange feeling. I will use the tweak with default GA but not with the PMDG planes.
December 29, 201213 yr Hi Rick Have you tested the tweak with the NGX? I don't want to loose any realism (landing & take-off perf.) on the NGX vs. the tweak, would very much appreciate your opinion on it. Hi Rodd, I haven't had any bad issues with it. The aircraft gets fast easily during taxi but the crosswind takeoff and landing works very well. I'm still able to land on 5,000ft runways and stop without issues. I think you should give it a spin. Just know that she will get a little fast on you during taxi. Rick Rick D http://g5flyer.tumblr.com/
December 29, 201213 yr Rick can I use the basic version of this tweak or is there a reason I should use fsiupc version, I am not seeing a working download link for new fsiupc version, thanks. You guys have this file in your main fsx folder just noticed it (ROOT_sim1.dll) thanks. Rich Sennett
December 30, 201213 yr I've just finished doing a few tests with the -800 and it's working perfectly for me. I noticed that when the airplane has the gross weight under roughly 115.000lb it will start to move on it's own at idle thrust, and depending on how light it is, you will have to keep your feet on the brakes to control speed. With 0% payload and 25% of fuel the plane reached about 30 knots within 2 minutes or so taxiing in a straight line. Above 115.000lb you'll need to give it some power to get rolling, but after you're moving, the airplane is going to accelerate slowly at idle. After a certain point (around 75% payload and half it's capacity on fuel) the plane may maintain a constant speed or even decelerate very slowly. I didn't notice any differences on turns, but it's definitely easier to stay on the center line. That tendency that airplanes had to pull to one side is pretty much gone. I had no issues with braking either -just one actually. I believe the brakes are more effective now. I actually had to reduce the brake sensitivity on my joystick. The auto-brake system is still working as well as before on landing, but when I tried to do some RTOs, the auto-brake wouldn't kick in. I tried different weights and take-off configurations, but got nothing. I had a momentary problem with the auto-brake disarming on RTOs, but after launching FSX a second time I rejected one take-off on the -600. It worked fine. You guys have this file in your main fsx folder just noticed it (ROOT_sim1.dll) thanks. Rich I used the fsuipc version only. One thing i do think that is missing in many aircraft is the rolling moment caused by crosswinds. Not keeping in crosswind controls was a pet peev of mine. New guys would perform a perfect approach and give up crosswind controls after touch down. I would have to yell keep that wing down, she's still flying. The C-141 and the DC10 would list easily if you didnt keep the controls in through out the landing. Roll spoilers becoming ground spoilers increased this effect. Less input as you acceled and more input as you slowed. Hmmmm I miss doing touch n goes in the 10. Would love to see more of this effect. Rick D http://g5flyer.tumblr.com/
