I see these threads pop up all the time, and there never seems to be a consensus on which product is best. It keeps me from pulling the trigger to purchase a traffic addon.

 

Which is the best regarding the following:

 

1.Performance

2. Simulation immersion

3. Fewest obvious flaws

 

I have used

 

UT2/ TrafficX/ And MyTraffic 5B = MyTraffic 3D = MyTraffic 2013

 

 

 

This has been the best all round

MyTraffic 5B = MyTraffic 3D = MyTraffic 2013

 

UT2 heavy freezes and reload if i need to go FSX menu were show stopper.

 

TrafficX ffrom just flight is still better than UT2 in FPS and smoothness, but best all round is 2013, also good on FPS, and miltary bases and jets packed and impressive graphics.

 

On a side note, just moved from Rc4 to PFE, and its a massive improvement(taxi guidance + regional voice sets) , but more complex to setup.

Having owned both UT2 and My Traffic x, I personally would go for My Traffic. On the downside, the models aren t as pretty, and the planes don t fly actual flight plans although the routes are real, so i ve been told, which i would never really notice.

I had 2 big problems with ut2. First is that half the planes are generic paints. Yes you can manually fix it, but it requires ALOT of time to insert all of the missing liveries. My wife saw me doing this for hours and she said she understood because it was like setting up a doll house where you can change their clothes and furniture and crap. So if you don t mind playing dollhouse then maybe ut2 is for you.

Secondly, it seemed to take quite a while for the action to heat up in ut2, so after starting up, you have to wait maybe 20 minutes or speed up the sim before things got moving. Plus on many occasions there wouldn t be muchhappening at the arrival airport.

With my traffic, these problems don t exist. After starting up things get perculating in a hurry. Passing major airports in route you can see lots of planes landing and taking off, and always lots of action on arrival. I used to have airline traffic at 45%, but after patching to 5.4b i had to bring it down to 20% to maintain the same level of traffic, which is quite busy, perhaps two thirds of gates full at major airports, with some performance hit of course but not bringing my rig to its knees.

So in summary neither one is perfect but i m much happier with my traffic.

Should also disclose that i m using the p3d version of my traffic.... i hope this helps you make a decision.

 

Yes and as the above post mentions when you access the sim menu with ut2,it reloads all traffic, so you have to wait again for things to get going which is a disaster if you re in mid flight... i had forgotten about that. I like how my traffic just works, and while it has a downside or two, no major flaws.

Really i dont think MyTrafficX 5b has any competion even close, all things considered. Which is why its strange that these threads keep coming up from time to time.

 

Searhing before posting might help, but then sometimes the threads endup with no concesus, which ends up making new folk by every product so they can have an opinion on which works best.

 

These 2 products are quite great, each has bad points but compared to the competition they are just good at the job.

2. PFE

I guess traffic360 may have to wait until it's ready from the big time.

 

As i mentioned, i have both UT2 and mytraffic x 5.4. I think they're both good. I can get traffic more simply and reliably with mytraffic x. It's also being actively developed. If planes not following real flightpaths doesn't bother you, i'd probably get that one. Personally, i do like the 'contrails in the right place' experience described by others above. So it's entirely possible I'll reinstall UT2 sometime and use that.

 

But if you're sitting on the fence and don't have either because of 'analysis paralysis'...my advice is that either is a worthy purchase.

 

Just a point to help when to try to make a called on AI program....

 

UT2 and windows 8 dont get along on my rig. UT2 was fine before the OS upgrade.

Finally Just Flights replied to my reply that a "refund" is not the answer we want to hear;

I'm willing to wait, but I understand the frustration of those who were expecting an add-on free of bugs. I do think that more time should go into development and testing before release, but I understand that even the best Q&A sometimes misses things. When I was helping the Airport Design Editor development team we spent considerable time working through bugs and reported anomalies, but sometimes we didn't get them all worked out before the next release went live.

 

That being said, Jon wasn't charging $38 for ADE (although I believe it's definitely worth it).

 

Anyway, Traffic360 is my first AI traffic add-on so I can't compare it to the others. I do see some things that I think need improved, but am willing to give them some time to fix them.

I thought W8 was a no-no with FSX?

What's the problem?

My traffic x ai air crafts are not showing up after installation. The same with traffic 360 full download version. All other ai is showing up.

Install TrafficX.

 

Install TrafficXServicePack1 patch.

 

Go to FSX scenery library and ensure that the TrafficX scenery is bellow Addon Scenery.

 

Make sure that in the cfg there's a lineSimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\TrafficX :
