January 5, 201313 yr monitoring our forums Avsim to teach people with questions etc. as opposed to actually teaching people to fly the aircraft. Rónán, I've found a small error in your text. Just there to help. Seriously, thanks for the post on the transition training.
January 5, 201313 yr It invariably seems to end up that way as when I'm at my desk (yeh, a desk, who would've guessed... ) during the middle of the day, no one seems to post any questions on our forums or send me emails, and I have to spend 8 hours in front of a computer waiting for people to ask me stuff, so invariably I seem to spend more time answering questions on Avsim and the like. Rónán O Cadhain.
January 5, 201313 yr with the actual pilot who FLEW THE PLANE, The "actual pilot who FLEW THE PLANE" was convicted of manslughter and sentenced to imprisonment. I doubt his statements are of any real value 25 years later. The Official Report gives the outputs of the FDR and CVR. Perhaps you can point out where these show the the aircraft pitching down? January 5, 201313 yr so invariably I seem to spend more time answering questions on Avsim and the like. And you won't find many folks blaming you for that. ^_^ To make you jealous, here's some nice workplace. Also FBW side stick driven and incorporating some laws. But not from Airbus. http://www.dassault-...con-7x.html?L=1 Must say that it's a really nice looking airplane. And that's from a guy being in love with Concorde.
January 5, 201313 yr Pic007: Ok, we finally all understand now--Airbus was the creation of 12 very rich and powerful financiers of the World Bank, sipping brandy in a smoke filled room deep beneath the sands of Roswell in 1947 in order to covertly channel slush funds to anti-communist guerrillas in the Balkans. :h01162:

Sure, just as soon as you find the missing 8 seconds from the actual recorders from that plane, not the ones that were substituted. Actually 5 people were convicted and more should have been. January 5, 201313 yr Well, far be it from me to complain about somebody sidetracking a thread, as I've been known to do that myself sometimes, but it just seems like the whole "What is FBW=Scarebus sucks" is quite a non-sequiter. Maybe that discussion would be better off in another thread, for those that wish to participate in that tired argument, that's all.

But not from Airbus. Must say that it's a really nice looking airplane. And that's from a guy being in love with Concorde. That seems like a very nice airplane, nice presentation on it's capabilities too. Wouldn't mind one for myself if I manage to win the lotto. I remember once I did a presentation similar to that for a TV show, and I was sitting there, and the same "What feature do pilots most appreciate on this aircraft?" and in a panic I announce... "Urm... well... *goes completely blank* we have window wipers, they get rid of the rain so we can see stuff" after saying this I think to myself, this sounds like probably the stupidest thing I could have ever said, so I needed to do something quick, so I reach up, and turn on my window wiper without even thinking... Now this being a dry day, resulted in this screeching sound going "CRAWCK.... CRAWCK.... CRAWCK" and I just sit there with straight face looking into the camera while the camera crew looks on with raised eyebrows as if I've just escaped from the mental asylum wondering what I'm allowed do at the pointy end of a plane, sitting there with a straight face while this wiper slowly screeches back and forth across the window until the chief pilot announces "Get me another Captain, let's retake this shot" B) You'd be surprised the things people do when put under pressure while on camera LOL... With regards the AF crash, the reason the A320 did not allow him to pull up was because it would have stalled the plane crashing it. The pilot in a panic pulled back on the stick, had this been a conventional aircraft it would have crashed then and there, had there not been the forest at the end, they would have likely survived due to the fact that it stopped him stalling, had there not been FBW protections, even if there was no forest or obstacles, that flight would have ended in disaster. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
January 5, 201313 yr Just thought I would put my two penith worth in regarding the transition from conventional control to airbus sidestick (A318-321 at least) As Ró stated The transitioning from Boeing to Airbus is fairly straight forward from a flying point of view However system wise its a very different bird and this is were you get a lot of problems, and it will take some guys many months to understand the systems properly and in some cases years Pete Little

January 5, 201313 yr I guess you just emphasized the importance of.. the wipers. :Worried: Good read. "Get me another Captain, let's retake this shot" Would have been fun if the other one then explains the same or points out the armrest or something. United we fight! If it doesn't spoil the thread due to video postings, I'd like to show this one. It offers a bit on the testing and thinking behind FBW for GA aircraft. Pointing out the differences as their aim, among others, is to make flying easier for the inexperienced pilots. Therefore attracting new customers and maybe even working on the GA safety in general. The aircraft is a DA42. My guess would be that one major goal may also be a sort of autoland. I could be wrong though.

Here's a link with pretty much everything about that crash, and it's my last on on the thread. Shall we start a new one maybe titled "Airbus vertical stab falls off" ? :-) http://www.airdisaster.com/investigations/af296/af296.shtml#captain Jay
January 5, 201313 yr Would have been fun if the other one then explains the same or points out the armrest or something. United we fight! Close enough, when the next guy was asked he chose the padding in the seats, and did a little kind of bounce thing for the camera to show how the seat was comfy, I'm pretty sure the CP thought she was in charge of a group of absolute cabbages after that. Anyway, it ended with the question being changed to "So many pilots say FBW is one of the best features of this aircraft, would you agree?" LMAO oh my  I would love to see that footage! All deleted, never to be seen by human eyes ever again... Muhahahaha... Rónán O Cadhain.
January 5, 201313 yr I would support that impression when it comes to the 'point it where you want to go' style. While the internals differ, the outcome may indeed look very similar. Besides, I hope the OP found some answers in those 6 pages of FBW tech and explanations. ^_^ after the first two responses .. the rest have simply been repeats .
January 5, 201313 yr Sure, just as soon as you find the missing 8 seconds from the actual recorders from that plane, not the ones that were substituted. Actually 5 people were convicted and more should have been. What's the source for that - please don't say that TV programme told you 8 secs were substituted? Never let actual facts get in your way. You obviously don't let them get in your way - you haven't provided a single verfiable fact. Gerry Howard
