January 7, 201313 yr Hello! Yesterday I installed the SP2 beta 3 to see what has changed. I am not sure was it the new version or the fact that I normally do only night flying, but this was something special. Just to share, here are a couple of pictures from a flight from EDDV to LSGS: Climbing away from EDDV with rain and overcast reported: Just seconds after climbing through the clouds: Looking back at EDDV: Prefight weather report stated that we should see a clearing weather when getting close to LSGS: LSGS reported CAVOK, but a lonely cloud caused a zero wiz during descent. LSGS has a demanding 6 degree descent. You can see that JS41 got away from me for a moment as I tried to take a screenshot: After descending below the lonely cloud, I was set up for a runway 25 visual landing: A great flight. I would never have flown this route without AirHauler. I was assigned this route with near MTOW which made this flight challenging. AS2012 made the flight so much more rewarding! January 9, 201313 yr Very nice! Got to say I also did a flight yesterday from LOWW to LFPG and the low visibility, overcast and transitions were wonderful! No wind shifts, the turbulence effects were superb, what really got my attention was that other pilots I was flying with described the weather exactly like I had it, including a nasty low level patch of cloud on short final. Like the OP experienced, am also very happy with the product. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
January 13, 201313 yr I see the settings we posted are gone, bummer. I did some testing last night, my settings with "prevent cloud redraws" as well as moving the slider for rate of change of weather. I landed in LoWW in pretty lousy weather, solid overcast, no wind shift problems, temp issues etc. Damian, I know you suggested not using "prevent cloud redraws" with DWC when looking for proper overcast conditions, have the latest patches improved this? My experience yesterday was very positive indeed. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
January 13, 201313 yr What settings do you guys use? I just got done with the absolute worst flight I have ever had with ActiveSky 2012. Indianapolis to Memphis, FL380, MD-11. Takeoff was good, and everything was fine until the decent started. The wind started shifting 10* back and fourth a few times a second, along with fluctuations from 100kts to 80kts. All was still going alright until I decend through 9000 ft (still a 100kt headwind, unheard of at 9000ft) and suddenly it shifted to a straight 20kt tailwind. Needless to say, I stalled out big-time, from 210kts IAS to 90kts. I managed to recover at 2000ft and limp my way on to 36L. I don't understand the settings on this program at all. I am running DWC, and have tried all the smoothing percentages with no luck. I haven't bought FSUIPC, but I seriously doubt it would have any effect on the 100kt wind at 9000ft anyway, however I know the wind shifts wouldn't be nearly as bad. Before you say anything, winds aloft at Memphis at the time of the incident I just had were reported 220 @ 53. Winds I received were 190@100, then 040@20.
January 13, 201313 yr Commercial Member I'd like to share a few shots from a flight yesterday. They're on my Facebook page (better than uploading them to drop box to post). Mods, feel free to remove if this is a problem. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=514982758536089&set=oa.402895099790911&type=1&permPage=1 Dave Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.

I haven't had issues with wind shifts, what have you enabled in your options section? Enhanced route coverage or virtual stations may give you wind shifts, and using the flight planner is recommended with DWC as it will lock to destination within 125nm to ensure no abrupt changes. I had posted my settings but they got lost in the last few days, I can re-post them tonight if you like. Dave, those are some seriously good screenshots! Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
January 13, 201313 yr Commercial Member Thanks Will! PM me your email address, and I'll send you a present (all the settings in a file you can simply copy and paste and you're good to go. My group spent many hours to get them correct (though we didn't reinvent the wheel either, we built off of others work). January 14, 201313 yr I hope whoever posted their settings here the other day reposts them. I just got active sky and it is excellent. Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090

Gregg Yes please repost setting I know the settings you're both on about, do you mean the copy-and-paste of the .cfg file or the screenshots? I did look at that person's .cfg file and mine was near enough identical - here is mine (which is giving me very nice weather) The file is FSXOptions.cfg and is located in Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\AS2012\Options [Options] fsVersion = FSX AutoRefreshAI = False DynamicRateofChangePercent = 0 VATSIMDownloads = False AutomaticDownloadInterval = 5 AutomaticDownloads = True CAVOKCloudGenerationPercent = 10 NoDataCloudGenerationPercent = 20 CirrusCloudGenerationPercent = 10 MaximumCloudLayers = 6 MinimumCloudTurbulencePercent = 11 MaximumCloudTurbulencePercent = 100 MinimumCloudIcingPercent = 0 MaximumCloudIcingPercent = 100 StratusCloudOccurrencePercent = 40 MinimumVisibilitySM = 0 MaximumVisibilitySM = 49 MaximumUpperVisibilitySM = 59 MaximumSurfaceWindSpeed = 100 MinimumWindTurbulencePercent = 10 MaximumWindTurbulencePercent = 100 MinimumWindShearPercent = 9 MaximumWindShearPercent = 100 DisableWindsAloft = False WakeTurbulenceStrength = 100 CreateVirtualStations = False EnhanceRouteCoverage = False DepictHurricanes = True EnableSkyScapeMode = False UseSkyScapeforStratus = False ForceHighPriority = True UpdateRange = 500 EnableWindSmoothing = False EnableVisibilityGraduation = True EnableFogLayerSimulation = True LocalSuppression = False SuppressionRange = 200 StartupWave = False EnableDirectWindControl = True ShowSimMessages = False SupressOnGround = False ForceDestinationWeatherZone = True VoiceATIS = False ThermalGenerationRatePercent = 100 UpandDowndraftGenerationRatePercent = 50 MaximumDowndraftRate = 2000 MaximumUpdraftThermalRate = 2000 DisableHazeLayer = True FogLayerGeneration = True DatFileOverwriteUserEdit = 0 ForceWindLock = False SuppressionCeiling = 10000 FSXDepictionMode = DWC PreventFSXCloudRedraws = False PreventTstormsWithCB = False GraduationCeiling = 8000 UseStratusForFog = True StratoCumulus = True PostPlanGraphicsPrompt = False LocalWriteswithDWC = False OvercastEnhancement = True ReduceVisibilityInCloudLayers = True I also set the FSX.CFG cloud density from 8 to 12. January 14, 201313 yr That works. Wouldn't mind having the screenshots too. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090

January 14, 201313 yr I think he means the s teens hits Jarkko posted of his setup in AS2012. Those settings are indeed very similiar to the ones I posted here a few days ago. I tested my setup last night with enabling "prevent FSX cloud redraw" and it did not seem to affect overcast or wind conditions, and the cloud flashing and reappearing disappeared, so I think I will keep that new option. January 14, 201313 yr I hope whoever posted their settings here the other day reposts them. I just got active sky and it is excellent. Gregg I too also upgraded from ASE to AS2012 and would like to see Jarkko's AS setting screenshots again.
