January 31, 201313 yr No more credits. You can still use credits if you have them. Here's the announcement... http://www.navigraph.com/ViewNews.aspx?newsId=5 ...and here's the pricing... http://www.navigraph...ataPricing.aspx Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. January 31, 201313 yr I've read the email they sent around. Quite some changes not only on the pricing. Good ones from reading. My guess would be that the Aerosoft competition caused some momentum. Me likes competition.
January 31, 201313 yr Can print charts easy now to which is great has a printer icon. http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART

January 31, 201313 yr I'm disgusted at the new price of the FMS data. I will be buying no further cycles.

February 1, 201313 yr Why are you disgusted? This's how the market works. And along comes mgh again. I wonder if I can think of an acronym for that forum name? I am disgusted because it means I have to pay more obviously =).
February 1, 201313 yr This is a better deal for me. I don't fly on VATSIM so I only need to update FMS data every 6-12 months or so just to make sure I don't get too far behind. As long as I can download for all my add-ons with the purchase, I'll just go with one cycle purchases from now on. Don't have to worry about credits expiring, which they always do for me because I don't need the charts or anything other than the FMS data. This isn't an OMG! cost save or anything, but it will save me a few bucks. --Don Don Polidori
February 1, 201313 yr Doesn't it actually allow to come in cheaper with leaving the credit system behind? That's how I read into it. Also, they seem to have an enhanced coverage now, which is a thing one has to test on a few flights. I wasn't happy with some Australian airports in the past for example. No data while the rw airport had some approaches and even the RXP GPS (old data base) showed them. Well, one should always check the competition too. That's what it's for. I've been looking into getting it for a couple of my airplanes but have no idea what to do with it. Can someone enlighten me? You mean what the data does or why it could be useful to be current? I guess the short answer would be that if you haven't missed any data so far, it may not be much of a benefit if you now update/subscribe. Most addons install an initial data set which is fully usable but grows older. So when approaching your favourite airport and looking up the rw charts or services, you may e.g. find that your FMC shows older approaches. To counteract, you need a fresh set and that's what Aerosoft and Navigraph deliver. Those sets aren't of any use when you have addons relying on the default FSX navaids and descriptions. So a default GPS unit and the default glass gauges in the 737 and 747 will never read any Navigraph data. They rely on reading the FSX bgl files. So you need an addon or tool being able to handle a separate data base. Like the one those two companies established. With this, you can use current procedures, waypoints, airport details and frequencies. Well, you mainly work around the issue that FSX itself grows older. The airports don't move of course and mountains will mostly stay in place too, but when e.g. Dublin changes their approach system, you only get that data into your fancy FMC by manually adding waypoints (coordinates then) or using an updated nav data set which would cover those new procedures. It's just about making sure that the sim nav data matches the current rw charts. By this, when using older charts, it's of no use. I think the online flying folks benefit the most. That's with having in mind that their ATC also relies on current nav data.
February 1, 201313 yr Author You mean what the data does or why it could be useful to be current? I mean how do I plug it in to my J41 and Flight1 Mustang. I think they both would use it. Do I replace a file or is there a tool? Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
February 1, 201313 yr Don't worry, the installer will take care of that as it picks the corresponding folders. You just have to make sure that it finds a valid FSX folder entry in your registry. From there, it will know the correct subfolders like PMDG. As said, an older nav data set is already plugged in to your addons. So when browsing the FSX installation folder, you should already find some databases. They always feature a readme stating the actual cycle.
February 1, 201313 yr I mean how do I plug it in to my J41 and Flight1 Mustang. I think they both would use it. Do I replace a file or is there a tool? You plug it in by buying the cycle and gettting the PMDG and Flight1 data sets and running the installer. The installers will backup your current set and put the new data in the proper place. DJ
