The best place to test a Jet engine?

Featured Replies

Airbus is testing a new engine (Rolls Royce Trent XWB) in "tim buck two" Iqaluit Canada (CYFB) for it's new A350 jet. Watch a A380 land in CYFB here.

:LMAO:

Actually default ATC in FSX/FS9 does a very good job at it.

Over and out eh!

PS: To bad "eh" wasn't included with ATC for us frozen simmers.

Oh, now you've gone and committed my "Pet Peeve #124," which is "improper use of radio phraseology..."

"Over" means "I'm done talking and will listen for your reply."

"Out" means "Conversation is completed. No reply expected."

Obviously then, one simply cannot be both "over" and "out" simultaneously!

"Over and Out" is valid military Nato speak.

Not when *I* was in the military.

I knew that one would get you. If that "Pet Peeve" is only #124 on your checklist, I guess I must be one old grumpy man. That "Pet Peeve" is #787 on my checklist..

I picked that saying up from the good old WWII movies. But I'm still forced to use "Over and Out" when conversing with the better half.

And now I'm picking up bad aviation lingo from Youtube...

Same here, and that includes a deployment under NATO OPCON (Strike Force Atlantic / Operation Northern Wedding).

"Over and Out" is valid military Nato speak. But not ICAO.

Um, no it is not. Only script writers and ignorant civilians make that silly error.

Jim now that brings back memories...

When I was younger my parents finally bought our first VHS player. It was an Electrolux VHS player and cost them $1200.00. The bonus was it came with the VHS movie Airplane. I watched that move about 10 times and will never forget it. Flying was in my blood at age 5.

We had HBO on cable back in those days, yeah I watched that one 10 times too, lol. I'll never forget the subtitles when Barbara Billingsly translated "jive": "Sheeet mon" (subtitle: golly)

At least it does not look as awkward as the engine test beds of Airbus Industrie (A340) and GE Aircraft Engines (B747). . . .

Airplane! is one of my favorite films!

Oh Boston John, you get me.
