I'm Frank Dainese (Italian), for years I devoted to building of mountain scenery.

For 2 years, I am experiencing the construction of 3D models of the mountains.

in particular the Dolomites (Italian Alps).

I have already had international recognition with Award (best freeware scenery) 2012.

I also had (unexpected) Nomination Reader's Choice Awards 2013.

I would like to present this experimental scenery.

just ask by email to [email protected]

The scenery is completely free

Thanks to the mod for moving this to the FSX forum--more people will get a chance to see it. Quite incredible! Great job!

I've actually been to northern Italy and have seen the Dolomites. Excellent work! It looks incredible!

The man himself. He does such outstanding work and then to offer it as freeware is quite classy.

is an experimental scenery, always changing.

I have built more than 40 mountains in 3D (Italian Alps).

I use LOD14 DTM data and real photo textures.

the procedure is very complex and consists of 10 steps, with 3D graphics.

For every mountain takes about 12-14 hours of work.

Can i *bump* this ?

Ups I just did.

The one and only Frank Dainese. And his freewares ! I got some of his scenery into my FSX/P3D folders but he lean more and more towards XP. But... who could blame him ?

It's just way of downloading his stuff... a bit complicated I must say.

He doesn't upload them anymore anywhere, you have to send him mail and then he gives you a link.

It's not exactly straightforward like we get used I guess. Shame. :hemm:

Cause they look ...more than great.

You really have to ask yourself are those real photos of really some freeware game scenery.

They're free, did I said that ?

I wonder did Frank knows that P3Dv64 is out ?

It's sad that he seems to be developing as X-Plane exclusive now.

This is by far the most important VFR destination for me personally. I'd give everything to have this in this quality in P3D. He did team up with ORBX in the past.

His FSX version works nicely in P3D but this here is even better. That first shot of the Walterplatz is insane. I have walked past that very spots a few times on holidays.
In fact I can either see in the distance places I have been to in all of these shots, or they are actually taken from almost the exact spots where I have been standing in real life. It is uncanny.

Here's another "uncanny" for you then:

:senang:

Much more on his page: http://scenarialpinifsx.blogspot.ba/

Yeah, shame that he produce them for XP only now.

Funny enough title of his page says it's "Scenari Alpini per FSX" !:mellow:

I haven't been to Cortina since I was 6. Still recognize it. Spooky.
