  1. Well since we don't have autopilot in the aircraft I fly, it's always off! But, most people I've seen while jumpseating, will usually turn it off when stabilized on the approach and some will turn it off passing 10,000 feet. It depends on the pilot and operator. I was flying on a United 319, and the captain hand flew the aircraft up to cruise, and turned off the A/P and auto-throttles right at TOD.
  2. Had to get FSX again for this plane also... I forgot how much worse it was compared to P3D!
  3. That's insane!
  4. Thank you very much! I wish we had a longer overnight there, so I could explore the area some more. Maybe one day I can take a boat out on Lake Powell
  5. The door is definitely always open until pushback.
  6. It's not uncommon to see a flaps 2 and packs off take-off on a 321. Depends on the operator though. Try that out and see if it helps
  7. Thanks for all the comments everyone! That's a sweet set-up, basementflyguy! I really think every pilot should fly out in that area. It makes you appreciate how wonderful this planet is. Our Page - Phoenix turn is probably my favorite route, especially when we fly over the Grand Canyon! We're going to start flying to Telluride again this December, so that might be a close second!
  8. Love it out here! Enjoy!
  9. Every Southwest flight I've jumpseated on, the captain has used the HUD on takeoff. Can't say for other operators though.
  10. Yep! Tis' what I fly for a living! It's definitely a wonderful aircraft to fly
  11. It's not bad, but there's quite a few things they could have done to make it better in terms of systems and avionics.
  12. Well, flying overseas will never really be "cheap". If I were you, I'd go some time during late spring (May). Summer time will be more expensive for sure. Most of my mothers side of family are French, and I've been there quite a few times. There will always be French people in France, so you shouldn't have a problem with that. I recommend going to Western France (Bretagne). I go to the Nantes (quite a few flights there a day. I usually take a flight into EGW, then to NTE from there) area when I visit, and end up seeing and visiting my family on the west coast in La Baule. If you want, you can just take a trip up the Loire river, and sight see all the chateau's and castles along the river. There's a bunch of little villages and vineyard's along the route, so it's definitely something to do!
  13. Ah, yes. I was thinking of Cortez
  14. I'll actually be heading to Alamosa from Denver tomorrow, which goes right over it. I'll try and snag a video or some pics of it!
  15. I fly over this place quite often; such a great place!
  16. Thank you! There will definitely be more on the way, that's for sure!
  17. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!!
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL6KC7txHk8 Just a video with a landing in Prescott, AZ!
  19. I'd rather have a nice $100,000 home cockpit set-up over a VR headset! But in all honesty, for something on a budget, it would be much easier to just go the VR route. Looking forward to trying it out myself, and seeing how it compares to the real world!
  20. It was pretty difficult for me (in terms of setting up axis', buttons and whatnot) at first. But, that was the only problem I had. Now that I've done it a few times, I realize how much easier it is compared to FSX in terms of setting up. You are definitely correct!
  21. I jumpseat on Southwest often. They have the altitude callouts as posted above, HUD's on every aircraft I've been on (even the -300 models, and they are captain side only for every aircraft), analog standby's, most of the -300's still use steam gauges, the -300 also has no autothrottle; all are INOP. Also, they turn their landing lights on/off once passing FL180. Couple pictures I snagged in the -300. Couldn't take better pictures, because I was trying to be sneaky
