Captainsim 777

reading all the pdf's in the package. :drinks:

Too bad you have to download the PDFs separate, too bad those PDFs only show you what you already know.

The thing that absolutely gets me ticked off at CaptainSim is that they do not even try to work along side customers. It's like they are in their own little world, so we never know what is being done, what has been done, or what will be done to improve the experience.

FPS is a chief component in every single addon designed. Other developers have fixed their FPS issues to the point that we can operate their aircraft in almost any condition required. Captain Sim however, realizes we have had FPS issues in the past with their addons, what have they decided to do about it this time on their 777? Throw in more animations. So essentially, 5 steps backwards.

Want proof of bad performance?

Look for any one of their videos on the T7.

http://www.youtube.c...m?feature=watch

Their FSX is vanilla, and is probably on the lowest settings possible, it even looks like their Resolution is on the lowest possible, yet they still have to speed up the video or what have you to make it seem like smooth performance.

It troubled me reading that Captain Sim was still trying to wedge a cabin into the sim. The time taken to design that Cabin(Gets old, fast, by the way) could have been put into fixing their VNAV issues, FPS issues, RAT issues (Finally fixed), Lighting issues, Sound issues, Engine startup issues, Engine performance issues, Weight and Balance Issues, FMC Calculations issues, ND Issues, Airspeed Issues, Autopilot issues and a whole list of other issues. I'm lost for words as to how they could miss this in the beta program that took nearly a year to complete.

I would have rather bought the Abacus 787 knowing I'd get a totally terrible addon, than buying €60 worth of hyped up garbage. You see, Captain Sim doesn't care. All they care about is the fact that they get your money, after that you are left high and try to a host of hotfixes created not by Captain Sim, but other users, in a desperate attempt to help others get their addon operational.

If you want to be part of a never ending test team, then go on! Buy the T7! You wont regret it, I can guarantee you.

If you want to get as close as flying a 777 as FSX allows, then wait for the PMDG T7.

Captain Sim has done an excellent job building this 777. The flight model seems very accurate and it hand flies beautifully, yet "feels" very heavy.

They have said that they will release an update on the VNAV to make it accurate, but other than that, I cannot find any "bugs" in the package. It flies very good for me.

Captain Sim is a master of textures and the VC and exterior is beautiful. I can't seen how it could be better.

Is the Captain Sim 777 better than the PMDG 777? I would have to say it is, since I don't see any PMDG 777 yet.

On the other hand, I believe those finding bugs with the CS777 (other than a fully completed VNAV), will probably find bugs with PMDG's 777 also, since most of the bugs that I see mentioned are caused from poor installations and bad settings.

Also Captain Sim's 777 will have a weather radar, which PMDG's will not ever have.

When ever PMDG releases their 777, I'm sure that it will be excellent, but Captain Sim's 777 is also an excellent model. I'll have plenty of hours on Captain Sim's by the time PMDG releases theirs. Then, I'll have them both.

In my pov its not bashing, in the beginning of the payed beta, I pointed out that I have problem with fps.

I got told to serve some screenshots as proof.

I made screeshots with the NGX and with the CS777, same situation KGTF on rwy.

NGX 30 fps, CS777 12 fps

what happend..... my post got deleted....

to be fair I tried the official release candidate of the CS777 in same situation.

Eureka, they improved over 10 versions......15 fps

No where close. Bought it, hated it, wished I could get my money back.

+1.

Don't touch it.

No.

No.

Jeez, learn to accept that people have different opinions.

Well, I own every product released for FSX by PMDG and I own pretty much every product released for FSX by CaptainSim (just not all variants). I'm not here to bash CaptainSim because I do like their products.

It seems over the years I have come to expect a certain standard form each developer. Those standards are different due what I have experienced with each Devs products over the years.

Some of CaptainSim's products have not been the most framerate friendly offerings. That being said, the 777 takes the cake at this point in time for being an absolute framerate hog in my FSX. How anyone can fly this plane and enjoy it, at this point in time, is beyond me. However, if people like the performance good for them. I waited for CaptainSim's annual sale this go around due to the negative comments that were about regarding performance of this model. So, I had an I idea what to expect going in and for 9.99 euro I cannot be all that disappointed. Had I paid full retail for this product, I would no doubt be quite upset. I hope that overtime CS figures out how to code the 777 so that it is less taxing on system resources.

My recommendation at this time would be that unless you already have it, stay away from it. If it goes on sale and you want to give it a whirl then give it a whirl. It will be a much easier pill to swallow if you dislike it.

Bob

As others have pointed out, their modelling is superb, but from that on, the headache starts for me: Texturing is often done in a way that requires a lot time for all textures to load, while the textures themselves look great; systems aren't accurate (which I don't really mind, but some things would be nice to be properly simulated, e.g. fuel burn, warning messages on the 767 etc.), and saving flights may has caused some problems for me, too; last but not least, I find their pricing and releasing philosophy a bit strange: Their products are really expensive (especially when comparing it to the accuracy and pricing o the PMDG NGX), and selling the products in small pieces isn't that appealing. Another thing I don't really like about CS, is the way they provide manuals, and how important information, especially concerning the autopilot system of the old planes (707, 727, C-130) is given or not given. I mean downloading three manuals after installing the plane, and none of them really explains the autopilot and navigation equipment seems a bit unnecessary to me.

Please note, that this is not intended to be dev bashing in any way, it's just my opinion, and while some might not agree with it reading through previous posts it's obvious that I'm not alone with this opinion.

That's probably the way to go, I did that for a few of their planes, but they all are parked on an external device due various reasons, some of which given above.

Another CS bashing thread...I know namco will be in here soon!

I'm here all the time, what do you want me to say? It's been said already: Basically nobody understands why they made this 777 instead of finishing their other stuff first. Now i am against them and i stood by them many times.

A model with a cabin and no VC? Come on?

CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11

In my experience CS products are like beautiful sports cars... sports cars in which the radio doesn't turn on, the heater blows cold air, the gear shift is vague, right front wheel vibrates and the clutch slips...

It goes fast and looks the part but too many things ruin the experience so it just sits in the garage.

You can't say one product is better then one that doesn't exist yet. How is it better? Just because it exists and the other doesn't does not mean it's automatically better.

Just means it's the only option currently (besides the Wilco 777).

I only said that because you were such a strong defender for them in previous CS threads. If even you turned against them, well they must have really screwed up. :)

Screwed up one time too many.

They cannot go on like this and expect to stay in the game.

I will intentionally publicize all negative characteristics so that future customers are exposed to some truth.

They cannot go on like this and expect to stay in the game.

For example Wilco has been releasing unfinished products for years (and unlike CS they never fix them), yet they are still in the game.

In my opinion CS 707, 727, 737 and 767 have been pretty nice products in the end, just this 777 seems to be so full of trouble and slow progress.

"Defender!" Since when is Captain Sim on trail, or need "defending"?

There is no need to "defend" Captain Sim. I'm sure that he cries all the way to the bank on a regular bases, since there are many people who enjoy his products very much.

For anyone that is open minded about Captain Sim's new Boeing 777, I can say, it is quite a good product, since I do own and fly it. Very realistic (from this simmer's viewpoint), complex, visually accurate, beautiful and stable.

For those who simply do not like Captain Sim products.....don't buy it.

It's about as simple as that. There is no "defending".
