February 11, 201313 yr (Excerpt from FlyTampa Forum) DMac10121... Hello Simmers! Just thinking, and I know FT does not take requests for airports, would a FlyTampa PSP (Palm Springs be considerable). The terminal is very interesting and it would go well with MegaSceneryX SoCal. The museum across from the passenger terminal would be great to fly into with WWII aircraft and modern fighter jets. It's proximity to FSDT LAX, FB KSFO and for FS9'ers FT KSAN would make it perfect for short passenger flights for witch KPSP is known for. It could be, in future, a package with KBUR or other SoCal airports, which I know are highly in demand in the FS community. Anyways, happy flying! -DMac10121 George... Looked at it a few times. The goofy bland grey gravel they laid down everywhere put me off. If not for that, i'd love to make it as I like the airport. Maybe later when the weather gives the ground some character. DMac10121... Yes, I must admit the gravel would be tough to model and would look out of place, however this would be a unique scenery to be at, what with the gravel and the terminal and the black and white asphalt and the close sceneries, yet I realize you are busy with CYUL, which I can't wait for. Just a consideration, maybe worth dropping into a poll or something. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ What do you all have to add to this discussion? Do you want a Palm Springs? Would it be a good airport? Is there other developers (LatinVFR, FlightBeam, etc...) who could do it better? -abasa12 Derek MacPherson At the risk of sounding cliche, I love planes.GTX 770 / i7-4790K / 16GB DDR3
February 11, 201313 yr Moderator I wouldn't mind Palm Springs and it is a little special to me since it was the airport I flew to when I did my first solo cross country. That being said, I would much prefer they do something a tad bigger and outside SoCal. If I had my choice of a smaller regional airport I would love to see them do KABQ since nothing has been done in New Mexico. Shez said that he plans to redo all his FS9 airports to FSX standards. He just completed KONT recently and its pretty nice, so an updated version of KPSP by him would suite me well enough since I rarely visit that airport in the sim. Funny how we hardly had any thing for Cal for so long, now we had 2 versions of KSAN, FSTD's KLAX, Flightbeam's KSFO, ImaginSim's KSJC. I suppose if they were going to do a really small airport in SoCal I would prefer Van Nuys, although Aerosoft said some time ago they would do it also. February 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member I use all my Shez airports from 2004 in P3D. A few little issues but overall they work pretty good. And Palm Springs looks great at dusk in P3D with my MegaScenery Earth SoCal (version 1). His FSX version of KONT is pretty nice so I hope his KPSP matches up to it. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
February 11, 201313 yr I love flying around Socal. Now with SAN, we just need ONT, PSP, VNY, BUR to get some nice short hops with great scenery around.
February 12, 201313 yr Moderator As mentioned in one of the posts above, Shez has released KONT for FSX and its good. Tried it and little to no FPS hit. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
February 12, 201313 yr I would LOVE a PSP from FT. Would love to take an Alaskan -800 full power out of there.
February 12, 201313 yr I'd love anything from Fly Tampa. But this PSP is too small for FT. During FS9 days megascenery I loved Shez's PSP... The buildings he did for PSP still works in FSX.. It takes a bit of a fps hit. But the ground from his FS9 scenery does not work... So all we need a new ground textures...all his buildings still work On the other hand, FT could do San Diego and the whole area and throw the PSP in as well. Tsk Tsk. What makes PSP appealing to me are the Rocky mountains close to it (Megascenery is nice in these parts)... its really nice to fly from PSP through that valley to go to LA. February 12, 201313 yr Oops didn't mean to say ONT, Shez's version just released is great! I meant SNA. I think he did SNA for FS9. Would be great to have a native KSNA.
February 12, 201313 yr I'd be over the moon if a really good scenery package for KPSP came out. Ever since I've brought Mega Scenery X SoCal. I've been frequenting the aerodrome. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Jason Carruthers
February 13, 201313 yr Out of curiosity I did try Shez's FS2004 scenery with the FSX patch that is floating around on download sites. In conjunction with MegasceneryX SoCal it wasn't bad, but there were issues. All of the buildings were great and my AI lined up correctly with the terminals and other parking. There was however still some flashing of the tarmac and some of the other ground poly's. there was also a slight variance in the megasceneryx ground base which seeped some runway and taxiways out from underneath Shez's package. If these are things you can tolerate, or can fix, this may be an option. I also dont know if it fares better without megasceneryX but it might. Otherwise, and what I will do is wait for an FSX update as was wonderfly done for ONT. Nick
