March 18, 201313 yr Brand new to Active Sky here and loving it so far. I need to have AS do as you mentioned above. Be unexpected. I would like to arrive at my destination with marginal IFR weather. 200' and 1/2. I would like AS to sometimes give me 1/4 mile and sometimes 3/4 as well as say 300' then 150' ceilings. A am trying to simulate real world missed approaches. Can AS do this? My apologies if this has been covered somewhere else. What would be my best way to proceed? Thanks so much! Respectfully, Jet
March 31, 201313 yr No not really, I started experimenting with Local Writes with DWC running networked to see if I like it better or not. It seems to smooth out the transitions a little better. Other then that I haven't changed anything. Dave, for flying over water, are there any issues enabling Local Writes as well as Enhance Route Coverage? Also, setting a destination in the planner gives advanced interpolation at 120nm around destination, but weather will still change if the metar changes. What is your preferred update interval? I have mine set at 5 minutes, my hope is that any changes are captured gradually by setting interval at only 5 minutes rather than complete weather swings by updating every 15 minutes or longer. Your thoughts please? Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
March 31, 201313 yr Commercial Member The clouds are smoother. I think anyway. As for the download time mine is set at 15. Every 5 minutes is like a waste of time querying the server. Good stations usually update hourly anyway and alot of stations can take even longer. If most people hit the server every 5 minutes that would be alot of load to handle at times. April 3, 201313 yr Daveo, are the any changes to your FSXOptions.cfg with the latest SP2 version? Thanks, Dirk.
July 24, 201312 yr Thanks Dave, will try Create Additional Stations, Enhanced Route Coverage and Local Stations Write and move updates to 15 minutes. Cheers One more question, what is the best Dynamic Rate of Change? Will, what are your findings with: - Create Additional Stations - Enhanced Route Coverage - Local Stations wrties with DWC - Dynamic Rate of Change Interesting, what is the current consensus on these settings in the current version? For example, Additional stations and Enhanced route coverage sound good but they may affect the perfromance and even cause wind shifts... Has anybody experimented with these? Thanks, Dirk.
July 25, 201312 yr Commercial Member Daveo, are the any changes to your FSXOptions.cfg with the latest SP2 version? Thanks, Dirk. Just saw this. Yes I changed LocalWriteswithDWC = False to True. ForceWindLock = True to False I'll update the original post. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
July 25, 201312 yr Commercial Member It is updated. #2 post in this thread. It was just those 2 changes mentioned above. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager

July 29, 201312 yr Commercial Member Yes it should work. It is only a text file. Backup your original first. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
September 22, 201312 yr I have applied Daveo settings. Looks that it is realistic and gives nice feeling, but as i see all changes are happening very sharp and suddenly, there is no smooth transition from one to another condition. How to make those transitions smooth ? Artur
October 10, 201312 yr Hey Dave, Do these setting apply when also using Radar Contact 4? I find I am getting inaccurate weather reported by RC4 and consequently getting poor runway choices. Thanks in advance. Rob Rob Sgambellone
