March 1, 201313 yr Have you guys seen him review the DCS A-10C of all things? Talk about a lot of shaking heads and pointing at the screen... I could feel he's pain and frustration ^_^ . I almost felt sorry for him that some "evil" simmer had suggested him to make this video just to have a good laugh . The FSX video whas funny, this one whas almost depressing.. When he finnally got the engines running and started taxi and then he lost he's wheel I almost started to cry  all that work and he didn't even get up in the air, poor fella. Someone should have told him that he could have started the flight with the engines running...
March 1, 201313 yr If we're talking Sim's here, i saw one the other day for a "Garden Simulator". Now, that would be boring. Crane Sim and Oil Rig sim seems a heck of a lot betterthan Garden... -ANDY GREENFlight Diary Account : http://flightdiary.net/SpeedBird7735 Hours experience in Grob 115, 30 minutes in Grob 102 10 Hours in Grob 109 PLUS SOLO! 23rd November 2013!
March 1, 201313 yr Well, Nerd is obviously making fun of ETS2 (as he makes fun of everything) but I have to say that ETS2 can not be compared with 'sims' like Forklift or Farming... I can't let you all put ETS2 in the same league as Crane sim or Garden sim without speaking up. ^_^ ETS2 is quite a nice and also pretty good sim! Okay, obviously you have to like trucks (like we like planes) but if you do, then ETS2 is the FSX (or maybe even the FS11) of trucking sims. I even bought it! I don't play it anymore, really, but I did have some honest fun with it and I can fully understand people liking trucks also liking this sim. I know a few guys who are completely into it just like we are into flightsimming, something that will never happen with the other 'sims' being mentioned here. Ok, back to Nerd... He also made a movie about Aerofly FS. Just as hilarious as all his other movies. At one moment he crashes and the wings fall off and immediately he says that his plane has detachable wings and nothing's wrong at all. He is quick and hilarious.

March 1, 201313 yr Bought Euro Truck Sim for 97p in PC World yesterday, will let you know how it goes  They had loads of the sims for 97p a go, so thought it rude not to.
March 1, 201313 yr I can't let you all put ETS2 in the same league as Crane sim or Garden sim without speaking up. I agree to this, whas only responding to the other sims mentioned. I have had some fun with the demo allthough I got bored pretty quickly. The most disapointing thing is that only the major roads are drivable in this sim, so you can't go anywhere you want and it's very restricted in citys. If the world where more open I may have bougth into this. I also found the handling abit hard even when using my yoke, I have driven trucks in real life and it's alot easier to be able to stay on the road in real life than in this sim. Only thing that's more difficult in real life is the gear shifting. As trucks have alot more gears than an ordinary car and have to be used right to get this thing going.
March 1, 201313 yr Bought Euro Truck Sim for 97p in PC World yesterday, will let you know how it goes I hope that is ETS2 and ETS (1) because there's a world of difference. I have had some fun with the demo allthough I got bored pretty quickly. The most disapointing thing is that only the major roads are drivable in this sim, so you can't go anywhere you want and it's very restricted in citys. If the world where more open I may have bougth into this. EXACTLY my thoughts. I really liked the game but the 'road system' became annoying. Too restricted. I was hoping for a more reality there but it seems that won't be happening. The graphics are okay (if you know how to get FSAA working) but because of the limited roads (no real life distances and so on) I stopped playing the game. I have the Logitech G27 wheel and with that one you can shift gears like the pro's, so to speak. I bought this wheel sometime after using ETS2 for the first time and being able to shift gears like you are used to in a car (including having to use the er... clutch pedal or whatever you call that) really helped making the game more real. Still... those roads... When you are used to real distances and sizes etc in FSX it's hard getting used to the ETS2 world.
March 1, 201313 yr I have the Logitech G27 wheel and with that one you can shift gears like the pro's, so to speak. Didn't try the manual gear shifting because I don't have the hardware for that, just assumed it wasn't simulated as it is very complex. So it simulates high and low gear ranges(half gears or splits),double clutching? and is there 12 to 20 gears total in the whole range?

March 1, 201313 yr Toilet Tycoon Not many people are intrested in cleaning toilets in real life so I can't imagine why someone would want to clean virtual toilets We like to think that flighsimming is a niche communety, but this must be the niche of the niches

So it simulates high and low gear ranges(half gears or splits),double clutching? and is there 12 to 20 gears total in the whole range? I don't know the official words for all that but you can select various method, amongst other some complicate Scania method. There are 12 gears and right now I use the option the shift from 1 to 3 to 5 to 7 to 9 to 11 with the G27 H-shifter. If I want the other gears I have to use a switch button. I can also use an option where it go from 1 straight to 6 after which I have to switch in order to go from 7 to 12. The mentioned Scania method is something else completely... When I want to change gears I have to press the clutch pedal. To go to reverse I have to press the pedal and press the H-shifter before I can pull it into reverse (position 6 in my case). That's all I know about it... Seems to me at least a few things are SIMulated. ^_^

Yes this is what I whas talking about. Wow, I didnt expect this to be simulated so it is some kind of simulator after all. To bad the road system are so restricted. Double-clutching allows the driver to control the engine and transmission revolutions to synchronize, so that a smooth shift can be made; for example, when upshifting, the accelerator pedal is released and the clutch pedal is depressed while the gear lever is moved into neutral, the clutch pedal is then released and quickly pushed down again while the gear lever is moved to the next higher gear. Finally, the clutch pedal is released and the accelerator pedal pushed down to obtain required engine speed About the poor handling I expirienced may have been that a flight yoke isn't exactly a driving wheel so it may have worked better for me if I had hardware designed for car simulations as far as I know..
March 1, 201313 yr If you want to be really bored, try Farming Simulator... what! Farming Sim 2013 is super fun, I bought it a few days ago.
March 1, 201313 yr Eurotruck 2 is miles ahead of Eurotruck1 one in terms of graphics and physics etc. Got ETS 2 the day it came out have not played it lately because the delivery network does not seem realistic to me as prefer the deliveries were short and regional more so. Drive from UK to France cant switch the trucks from right hand drive the UK uses to Left hand drive the European mainland uses. Kills the realty sense right there. I am on level 21 of it in terms of playing it got 3 drivers hired with me owned 3 trucks Scania and 2 Renaults. Still, truck sims use 18 wos Haulin and American Long haul mostly as love big American rigs like Kenworths and Peterbuilts long cabs full of chrome. Some of those modder made trucks are like Carendo planes so real its eye candy itself. Made maps, building ,cars, houses in haulin with my Arizona map, and those skills are easy to transfer to fsx and X plane. X-plane 10 smooth out their vectors on the road system you will see truck simmers showing up driving their big rigs chrome plated Kenworths when the pilots fly over at 30,000 ft. Then all convert over Kenworth or renault truck to drive in X-plane, still do not see this possible till Xplane 11 or Xplane 12 happen on a massive scale.
