August 10, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member I've found one new beta tester but there are still spots open. If you are interested please fill out the form on my blog here. http://vineripesoftware.wordpress.com/2013/08/09/looking-for-a-few-beta-testers-for-the-7-inch-tablet-version-of-flightmap/ Version 2.0 was just released with 7 inch tablet support so while I'm still interested in 7 inch tablet users I could really use someone that uses Prepar3D regularly.

August 10, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member Hello Manny, I sent you an email this morning. It should have come from ebanker(at)vineripeconsulting.com with the title FlightMap Beta Testers. Might want to check your spam folders. I just recently bought the domain.

August 11, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member What size is the galaxy note? I think its pretty big so might support the current layout or a slightly modified version. 7 inches is pushing it for the current design tho. I do plan to do a phone version that will be very different once I get that built. That will for sure be a different app and should support all phones. I'll look into the note tho. I Might be able to do that sooner.
August 12, 201312 yr Galaxy Note is 5.3'', but the app doesn't show up on Play Store so i cannot try it. If you want to send me a test version, PM me, and i'll test it for you. August 19, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member I spent some time over the weekend looking into the Galaxy Note and unfortunately I don't think FlightMap with it's current design will work on that device. I built an emulator of that phone to see what it would look just the log in screen is pretty mangled. I couldn't launch into the main app. Worse yet it looked like the available area looks to be far smaller than I thought it would be. I do eventually plan to build a version of FlightMap that will work on phones but it is lower down on my priority list right now as I'll need to be able to solve the WiFi only restriction. It's easy to require WiFi on tablets but not as easy on phones. Sorry about that. On a separate note I've had a number of requests to build an app that is just the gauges from FlightMap and augment it with a bunch more. I have no idea if anyone would use something like that but I did start work on an app using a lot of the underlying code from FlightMap for my own simpit. I was able to get an app up and running in an evening with 4 of the 6 main gauges. I'm about to go in for some pretty major surgery and I'll be out of contact for at least 2 weeks so I have no clue when I'll work on this some more but if anyone has any thoughts on what they would like to see in an app like this I'd love to hear them. http://vineripesoftware.wordpress.com/2013/08/18/new-app-idea-flightgauges/
August 20, 201312 yr It's a pitty you can't get it to work on the Note. Hope all goes well with your surgery. Best regards. August 25, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member I've made some progress on my new app FlightGauge. I’m still not happy with the look of the ui but it is getting better. Most of the gauges are functional at this point and are working very smoothly. I do need to work out multiple client support in FlightConnect before I release this new app. To round out the gauges I’m thinking I’ll put electrical and fuel on the right side. There will be quite a bit more space on the 10 inch tablet version and I've not yet decided what I’ll be doing there. The app will launch with 7 and 10 inch tablet support. More information is available at my blog: http://vineripesoftware.wordpress.com
August 26, 201312 yr Has anyone tried this on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet? Would the 7 inch version work on this tablet? Good luck, LOstSOul, on your upcoming surgery. Gerry
August 26, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member Hello Gerry, I've tried to simulate the tablet but it's so hard to tell if the parameters are right to simulate it correct. My guess would be that it utilizes the 7 inch tablet version but it is entirely possible depending how the tablet specifies itself that the 10 inch version would be shown. If you have the tablet I have updated the trial version of the software on the play store to support the smaller tablets so you could try it out. I would love to know what it does https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrs.flightmap.trial How do you like the 8 inch tablet? I find the 10 inch tablets a little to big and the 7 inch tablets a little to small. I'd think an 8 or 9 inch tablet would be pretty perfect.
August 26, 201312 yr Hi LOstSOul, Thanks for your response. The Samsung is my first tablet and I like it very much. The stylus grows on you very quickly. I will try your trial version and let you know how it works. Gerry
August 26, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member I'm eager to here how it goes. You're the first one I know to try it on a tablet that size. Hopefully it just works. That would be great If you do have any issues I would love to work with you to get it working on that tablet. That tablet is a little to much $$$ for me to purchase right now. - Eric
August 27, 201312 yr Author Commercial Member Howdy, I stopped by BestBuy today and was able to load FlightMap on one of the Galaxy 8's. It does indeed utilize the 7 inch tablet version of the application. The galaxy tab does not utilize the android software navigation bar and instead uses hardware buttons. Because of this i'm guessing there will be some slight alignment issues when in the map display mainly with the bottom of the screen. I could only see the launch page without access to FlightConnect so couldn't see how badly off alignment it would be. It probably doesn't look to bad. The app should be fully functional on the device. I'm going to look at ways to improve the look on devices like this.
August 28, 201312 yr I just bought and downloaded flightmap for my nexus 7, but I guess I didnt read very well or am I doing something wrong? All I see is a map with a compass overlay. Is there no altitude, speed etcincluded? Even a textual update would be nice if the gauges dont fit. If not , then my bad for not reading properly.
