April 24, 201313 yr I know I am! Thanks for the TrackUP/NorthUP toggle. This gets more and more Garmin with every release. Charles. Satisfied Customer.
April 25, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member I just released a new version of FlightMap to my beta testers. Hopefully all goes well and by this time next week this version will be out on the Play store for all to use. Here are the enhancements this BETA version includes: Updated graphics for the Airspeed and altitude Indicators Modified the GA indicator to be in 20 knot increments Added a track option when in NAV or GPS mode. This allows you to toggle between the current heading up display and a north up display. Improvements to the adhoc waypoint system. Now when you get within 1 nautical mile of an adhoc waypoint flightmap will automatically advance to the next waypoint like the GPS mode does. non-active waypoints will have a gray line in adhoc mode and active waypoint will be blue as it is now. Added distance to waypoint in NAV mode Added distance to waypoint, ETE, CTS, DTK, and WP Altitude to GPS mode. Adjusted the compass rose in plane direction up mode. I was using a built in FSX magnetic direction variable but when I added track mode I noticed it was off a bit. I’ve now adjusted this so that it matches the north up mode. After some testing I believe it is far more accurate now than it was. some other minor graphic updates Here are a few screen grabs of the latest version with the GPS enhancments.
April 25, 201313 yr Will this become available for iOs? Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
April 25, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member I have no plans to build an iOS version at this time. I don't own the necessary hardware to do iOS development and it's expensive. My server is open and there is one person that I know of that is currently working on using my server to build a similar app to FlightMap on iOS. I believe he just started work on it so I don't know when it will be released. Other than the server I'm not involved in that project.
April 30, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member Testing of the new version has been going really well and I should be releasing the update in the next day or two. This will require an update to FlightConnect so I'm working out how best to inform existing users. I'm also working on getting some documentation written up on my blog to help people out. I'll post more updates as soon as it's released.
May 3, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member I just released 1.6 to the play store. The new features in version 1.6: Added TRK feature to NAV and GPS modes. Updated Airspeed Indicator and Altitude indicator graphics Added next waypoint display info including ETE, Distance, Altitude, CTS, and DTK to GPS mode This version requires an update to version 1.6 of FlightConnect. If you do not have the latest version you will be prompted to upgrade when you go to connect. This is a really big update and provides a ton of great new functionality. I hope you all enjoy it.
May 8, 201313 yr I'm loving it. Helps with geography as I fly. Fun to use too. Anyone rocking an Android Tablet and flys FSX will love it. If you ever work out how to pull in VFR maps like skyvector uses, that would be cool. I would pay extra. C.
May 8, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks I've contacted the people over at SkyVector to see if they will allow integration in an app like mine. It looks like it's very possible to do but I can't do it without permission. We'll see
May 8, 201313 yr Hi, Just bought an HTC One so what would be the most equivalent app that I could use on ly smartphone ? Thank you Greg too much, too soon....
May 8, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member I don't have a phone version of FlightMap yet. I was hoping to be working on the 7 inch tablet version next but I've not made enough yet to purchase one. After this next version is released I plan on working on the phone version. Probably won't take long to knock that out since the code is all there now. I just need to figure out how best to minimize the ui while keeping as many features as possible.I'm planning on making the phone version a separate cheaper application since it won't have all of the features of the tablet version. It's going to be a completely different ui and experience and it would just make a mess of the code to keep it in one app. I'll probably call the phone version FlightMap Lite or something like that. For those with 7 inch tablets I'll be releasing that update in the current version when its done.
May 8, 201313 yr I've been anticipating this. I have two 7" Android devices, and this would be a GREAT addition to a "cockpit" build.

May 9, 201313 yr Author Commercial Member FlightConnect is available from my blog located here: http://vineripesoftware.wordpress.com/flightconnect/ I'll add a link in the application to it in the next version. I didn't think it would help since it has to be installed on the windows machine but there have been a lot of people that missed the information in the app description on google play now.

I've talked to the people at SkyVector and unfortunately their licensing requirements both cost wise and restriction wise just don't mesh with my goals. I would have to offer the maps as a very expensive reoccurring in app purchase and severely limit the functionality of the app when those maps are visible which just doesn't make it worth my time to implement. Maybe I can find an alternative.
