Day time vs Night time flying

Featured Replies

I find myself flying more at night than day time. Reason for that is day time flying in X-Plane to me looks pretty bad. Not sure if its the colors but it just doesn't feel or look right. I prefer FSX for day time flying until X-Plane can start improving in that area. What do you guys think? I've tried numerous addons to try to make day time flying visually joyful but just can't get it to look nice. Not sure exactly what it is. Maybe there's too much green? I don't know, I can't wait for some nice scenery addons to fix this problem. However night time flying is a different story, absolutely beautiful and stunning.

It's a pity Truscenery don't create cities and more airports at this moment in time. X-plane 10's potential will slip away if something doesn't change soon in regards to scenery. We can only hope there are drastic changes in this department for the 10.30 betas. Otherwise it's a long wait until X-plane 11.

These guys will change your mind about DayTime flying :Big Grin:

This link comes up wheneves the XP scenery is mentioned. Yes, good looking, but I and I guess some others do not want to fly there. Get Alaska and the Rockies fixed please.

Try going to the rendering dialogue and set your gamma to 3.5.  The default is 2.2 and it makes day time looks pretty dark and green. Although it is the correct default for Windows.

I almost exclusively fly during night. Mostly because of the rather cozy feeling of night flights in X-plane. But also because of the visibility limitations during high altitude flights. That blurry mess never fails to make me shudder.

I love flying during sunset/sunrise time. I think it looks the best.

You know, that screenshot is almost real looking until you look at those clouds...doh..so close and yet so far...

I think it looks great except the ground textures....  there's too many open areas.  And I'm with the OP - I fly mainly at night as it feels much more realistic than FSX.
