Emirates to fly to Israel?

Featured Replies

Someone who used to work for Emirates told me that EK are starting flights this year to Israel. I don't think it's true.

Anyone know?

Right now it's impossible.

Under the UAE AIP no plane can file a flight plan to or from Israel.
Relations between the two aren't great.

Also on a side note the Gulfstreams that are built in Israel are not allowed to land or fly over the UAE. No Israeli built airplane is.

Really this will not happen.

Lee

Oh and also you can't get in to the UAE with an Israeli stamp on your passport.

Someone told me they would allow smoking real soon on EK flights.

This was three years ago.

I am no expert in these matters, but I doubt it will happen here anytime in the foreseeable future.

I am not sure, but I think the stamp on a passport is not an issue in this country.

It is a nonstarter in a lot of other places in the area, but not here to my knowledge.

The stamp thing is indeed still in place, you are not allowed enter Israel with a UAE visa stamp on your passport. At least that was certainly the case back in 2008 when my Visa was issued. I don't see why Israel is so up tight about it, whatever about nationals of the UAE, but citizens of other countries seems a bit far, particularly those of us from Neutral States.

For that reason I don't see this move happening any time soon.

I just don't understand why Muslims,Christians and, Jewish faiths just cant put differences aside and realise fighting each other isn't going to spread their respective religions I'm a Christian but I see the crusades as wrong and as the cause of all of the current issues in the Middle East.

You don't see the same kind of issues between Germany and Israel, or England and France. The history isn't the problem... the religions are the problem.

So how does this work for Airline pilots? For example Lufthansa, they fly to Tel Aviv and Dubai. Say a pilot flies to Dubai, then that pilot can not fly into Tel Aviv anymore? Or is there a special allowance for airline pilots?

I'd assume so, we didn't fly to Israel at the time when we flew to the UAE, but when the company was taking care of my Visa for me I was told that I wouldn't be able to visit there until the passport was renewed.

I'd assume if we did start a route up to Israel I'd just have to put myself on the company no-fly list for that country, nothing too drastic, many of our LGBT (is that the PC term nowadays?) Pilots don't fly to certain countries due to the laws in those countries, so I assume a similar set up would be in place for anyone with a visa for the UAE, you just legally can't enter Israel. It is a hassle though, quite the inconvenience.

I don't know how to quote more than one person on tapatalk so here goes.

First off its not just Israel that doesn't allow UAE stamps its both probably. Lets note here though that you can fly between Jordan and Egypt from Israel. So if relations between the UAE and Israel ever got better (which probably won't happen any time soon or far away) I'm sure that there would be no problem in changing the rules.

Religion is not the issue. People are not trying to spread their religion through war. The Judaic and Islamic faiths do not really try to convert other people. In no way can present day Middle Eastern problems be equated to the Crusades, its completly different. The conflict isn't about converting people. If anything it's almost the opposite. It's no secret that Israel's neighbors -excluding Jordan and Egypt- don't want it to exist. So you are forced to protect yourself.

The conflict is a back and forth thing. Israel gets bombed, Israel bombs (were not talking UAE Israeli relations anymore here more the closer countries)

People in "neutral" countries don't really get the whole story. Trying not to be biased but what I'm saying is that you hear when Israel sends rockets somewhere targeting a certain person or group that is targeting Israel but not about the hundreds that were fired on Israel before.

Obviously we'd all like peace (I really want to visit Dubai but need a new passport lol..I could probably visit the pyramids though, which would be cool) but to speak like its the fault of one country or like its a simple issue isn't accurate.

England-France and Germany-Israel relations really have no place in this discussion.

Im young (late late teens) but hopefully in my life time there will be peace in the area. But will that happen? Who knows.

Usually I'd think that maybe my youth is making me naive on an issue such as this but not in this case.

Anyways avsim isn't the place for a discussion about politics so I thats my two cents.

My views on things.

Regards

Lee

Well now that is rather interesting. It was precisely the opposite situation in the mid-sixties when my parents and I had to visit the Palestinian side of Jerusalem before we could enter Israel, since it was not allowed to go the opposite way!

When we departed Israel, we had to fly back to Beruit before reconnecting with PanAm for our flight back to Tehran, Iran. B)

It would make sense if pilots from some countries or airlines were exempt though. Using you as an example, if both the UAE an Israel gave you "permission" to enter even with the stamp of the other country. So if your just doing a single day DUB-TLV-DUB then the next week you could enter the UAE. I mean international carriers pilots are probably pretty harmless lol.

It's obviously a security measure for other people though.

I would love to tour this part of the world. Isreal, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Cypress. I could go with two passports when I do, Canada and New Zealand passports, Use my Canadian one for Isreal and the New Zealand one for any other country. Not sure that would get me into trouble or not.

Syria is not a destination at this point but hopefully that will change. Dimascus has a lot of history and a great country to tour.
