Should I make the change from FSX to prepar3d?

Recommended Posts

Yes, I visited DX10 mode before uninstalling FSX Gold and it really looks very nice and even softer than default mode, yet, Aerosoft's Airbus X Extended was causing lot's of OOMs with it :-(

Oops!  Sorry to know :-/   I don't have trackir, but I thought I read somewhere that using the EMT TrackIR worked fine (?)

From the EMT readme:

TrackIR
There are three ways of getting TrackIR working with Prepar3D

Official drivers

EZdok Camera Addon
With older drivers, TrackIR can be made to run through EZCA,
with EZCA istalled to Prepar3D with the help of Migration Tool.
Install TrackIR, enable virtual FSX, install EZCA and then start
Prepar3D in Legacy Mode (see pg 18).

Native TrackIR support
With older drivers, the alternative to using TrackIR with EZCA
is so-called language.dll workaround. Install TrackIR, then
start Migration Tool, click Options and then click on Native
TrackIR support to enable language.dll workaround. Enable
virtual FSX to apply changes.

Note: Workaround can be enabled and disabled only when
virtual FSX is disabled. Workaround causes Prepar3D window
title to read Flight Simulator

Several things -

LM has a 60 day money back guarantee on the purchase - so you CAN buy and try.

TrackIR works perfectly with P3D

I have all my A2A with Accusim and Accufeel installed with NO problems.

Well I want to thank everybody for replying to this topic! I did make the change to P3D and I am loving it! All my addon scenery, aircraft and squawkbox work perfectly, and I havnt had any crashes (fatal errors) with it yet which is amazing! The only things I dont like is there is no game menu (the sim automatically starts in a flight), and to be able to use REX, you have to buy a license key (not expensive but I dont unerstand why), which i dont like because if I spend 50 dollars I would like to be able to use a weather engine in the sim without paying extra money. But all in all, everything is great!

Yes, same here, the more I use it the more I feel great with my option. Having my A2A, RealAir, Flight1 and HiFiTech plus CumulusX! working with it, as well as Madeira X, Lukla, the Airbus X Extended and the DR-40 give me more than enough to keep busy.... :-)

"everyone" is buying what they feel they qualify for. The only difference between versions is the small watermark in the upper right corner of the Academic version. Other than that, they are identical. The Pro PLUS version ($2k) has the ability to load and fire weapons - meant mainly for military training.

So, after reading lots of stuff about Prepar3d, I not convinced to leave FSX. I just love ORBX Global and the hundreds of add-ons I have installed. All of this combined with DX-10, REX, and AS2012, I will tell you... moving to Prepar3d would be a bad experience for me.

That is incorrect. You can set an option to have Prepar3D start up and load the UI just as you can in FSX.
