thanks guys....it's not enough to make me not get P3d because I think I would like to keep FSX installed anyway. One of the main reasons being that the FSL A320 will only work in P3d with their "Pro" version or whatever its called, and I am a bit apprehensive about the price of that.

Any thoughts on having both installed at once?

thanks again

No problems having both installed although some addons might get confused as to which sim they are installed in.

Thanks Do you mean get confused when they're getting installed? Or after. I think I'll install P3d on the C drive a opposed to program files. Lee

Outside of ProgramFiles is best.

Some add-ons when installed with the migration tool need to be reactivated when used in the other sim. Generally it is not a problem though.

Ok guys I am going to buy P3d and the migration tool right now..its as good a time as any even if I have to buy V2 again :P

websites giving me trouble...but when I get it ill be sure to let you know how it's going

Yes, I had AS2012 yesterday asking me again for the registration when this never happened before. Yet it only happened 4 days after I had installed the migration tool. No problem though, and you can easily see how to deal with those situations in the Migration Tool documents.

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Just remember people, anything that has a dedicated P3D installer, do NOT install with the migrator in virtual FSX mode.

Shame there isnt a trial version of Prepare3D, it would be nice to est my add-ons before purchase!

Another question, does prepare3D actually have better graphics and environment? On a technical note, how have Lockheed made it more stable then FSX?

Its only $49 to buy, I didnt get a free trial of FSX did you ?

Thanks

@GodAtum:

P3D has upgraded textures, clean code that is ready for installs on Win 7 64 bit and makes use of up to 4GB RAM as opposed to FSX Gold.

They also made a careful revamp of World landclass data and even the default scenery, which suits me perfectly appart from some specific airports I cared to install, looks better than in FSX.

They most certainly tuned up the weather effects as well. At least the visuals of the various Weather themes look better and so do feel the effects - turbulence, wind gusts and shear... It's not a huge difference from FSX, but it's there, just as I notice better effects from AS2012 SP2 with P3D than I did with FSX Gold (might be a better SIMCONNECT parametrization (?) )

The absence of stuttering even at LOD 5.5 or 6.5 (I have it set at 5.5), is also responsible for something that is completely different from FSX - even at lower fps, when using more detailed / complex add-ons, you do not notice the stuttering or tearing that plagued FSX.

P3D gave me absolutely no OOM / CTD until this moment, I am using Aerosoft's Airbus X Extended on medium to long range flights across Europe, using traffic at 100% airliners 56% ga, AS2012 SP2 feeding RWW. I also use and abuse of A2A's p51d, Flight1's PC-12 and Aerosoft's DR-400.

I decided to give P3D a try when I sold my copy of X-Plane10, after 8 months with it, and having returned to FSX Gold I started experiencing the OOM plague and a couple of CTDs. Before giving up on anything ESP-based for good, and since I was / am super-satisfied with DCS World, I gave P3D a try... It was the best choice I made (together with DCS World) in the last 18 months :-)

Your mileage may vary of course because it all depends probably on how many heavy add-ons you install and run concurrently, but fo far, so PERFECT! for me .

For a nice image of how even more "heavy" scenery behaves on P3D, see this video at today's Xsimreviews blog news:

Lol its like buying the Microsoft Office student edition

How much is prepar3d and where can you get it from? Is it a 64bit app? Do the menus still look the exact same as FSX or has there been updates to simplify things and make things better so one wouldn't have to continuously mess with the cfg file anymore.

Will addons like FS2crew and Ultimate Traffic 2, EZDok Cam work in P3D?

Does P3D run using DX11?

http://www.prepar3d.com/   no 64bit, just DX9(DX10 PREVIEW has been removed)  graphics have been upgraded alittle(looks and runs better than fsx)  Most FSX addons run great and all new addons install automatically into P3D......no tweaking needed.

I use xplane10, fsx and p3d.  Xplane10 is great but no Snow    I need my winter fix addicton and xp10 can't give me that.....yet! :good:
