B55 latest update

I have not had an opportunity to download the new file yet.  Any idea if this lighting issue was corrected?

Ummm I have never experienced this with the B55. Not even sure what to make of that.

Should have pointed out that the C310R issue has bridged my migration from a Radeon 6750 1 GB to the EVGA nVidia GTX560TI 4GB that I now have installed, so that should conclusively eliminate video card characteristics in regard to the C310R,  i.e. the issue was present with both vidcards.  I did not add the B55 until after that migration.

It is over 90 days since I documented both mine and other users mention of these issues via PM on the Milviz site, so its now time to put it out there.

Frank.  Let me be 100% clear on these comments you're making:

1) I have now verified that you never made any pm's or comments in the designated forums (that I could find) about lighting issues of this type.

2) had you done so, I would have offered you your money back as I have done with pretty much everyone who has this issue. (within AND without the 30 day money back guarantee and even to those who are not purchasing off of our site).

3) we are not alone in having this type of issue. Other devs who use this type of method have it too.

4) we know it's extremely annoying and, if we could repeat it, we would do more to fix it.

5) However, given that we did try and did not succeed, the only choice left to us is to not use the landing lights in this way and go back to the FSX default ones.  Which are not nearly as nice.

So. Given that you're one unhappy customer, I will offer you your money back EVEN though you are way over the 30 day limit.  We will NOT be removing this tech but we will be looking at this issue again.  However, that said, we still might not be able to fix it and that means, you will probably not wish to buy our products. I am saddened by this but, honestly, it's so rare that we don't even really know where to look.

If you've not experienced this issue, it's because it's only for a very, very select few who have this issue.  And only at certain times of day and in certain, very specific conditions.

So, don't bother trying to get it if you don't already do.

I would like to know at this time just how many people here do get this issue...

thanks,

Colin

Re the Baron SP, there were changes to lighting , the only current report i found on the Milviz site indicated a strobe was visible in the cockpit, this was rectified.

FWIW the P38 release does not use this method to project landing lights , instead makes use of a bright idea i had that has no bizzare behaviors in fog , or at dawn and dusk .

Per your #1 above:

I have more but this one should suffice.

Per your #2:

Yes you did, per link below, but I also had messages indicating the Milviz team would work on this, especially in light (no pun intended) of the fact that it obviously affects two separate models.

http://www.milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1765&start=20

Per #4

I am able to repeat with both models. The B-55 image earlier in this thread was from your site per another customer. The two below are mine. It seems to me that the issues may also in some way be related to the relationship of the airplane to the sun. In the first shot below, from an external chase camera, the square of light appears in broad daylight so it may be more difficult to see, but it is clearly there.

B-55%20light%20square%281%29-L.jpg

This second shot is from a tower view. Again in broad daylight. I was flying SW before noon, so the sun was somewhat at my back. A tower view a few minutes later did not show this issue, but at that time the view was from a different direction.

B-55%20light%20square%282%29-M.jpg

The C310R seen earlier in this topic is as an issue is repeatable for me. I start a flight of at least a couple of hours in duration; starting in daylight but late in the day; fly from west to east in real time, from daylight into dusk, then into darkness. As the stray light emerges it bathes the front of the cockpit in light, getting brighter. Cockpit view to the right and left show that the light emanates from a flat graphical plane; and as time evolves and darkness ensues, the light outside the cockpit and forward from the aircraft eventually lights the scenery ahead of the airplane to such an extent that it totally washes out the scenery.

The kicker on this one is that I believe if you slow the aircraft until it is safe to lower and then raise the landing gear, the issue disappears. I would need to confirm that observation is repeatable, but it takes a two to three hour flight west to east flight to repeat the issue in order to check the gear down/gear up repeat ability, and I may not have time to do that over the next two or three days.

Per your #3 above. I have not experienced anything like these with any other aircraft from any other developer. Consistent with the last line in your message above I also would like to know from others which aircraft from other developers exhibit characteristics like this.

Let me be clear about something myself. I have great affection for the flight dynamics and operational detail of these two models and enjoy flying both. In the case of the B-55, I first attained both my multi-engine and instrument ratings in an Army T-42, so the Baron is near and dear to me. This is the best Baron, the most realistic I have found. I'm not looking to pitch the model, so I have no interest in a refund. In the case of both models these issues have been recognized and pointed out by my grandson as he joins me on flights. He's crazy about airplanes (real life and the simulator) and he immediately notices. He's nearing his 6th birthday. Honestly it's been a bit embarrassing.

It is now sorted.  A new installer has been sent off to the portals.

Not sure when it will be posted.  I would wait 5 days minimum and go from there.

Hello,

The portal at AVSIM is no longer available for pliots that purchased Milviz B55 from AVSIM.

Can we now get the updates directly from Milviz?

Best Regards,

Let me be clear about something myself.

Let me try once again to be clear.

Since I have been completely unable to replicate this behavior on any of the six test systems I run here in my studio, just how can I be expected to find and fix whatever the problem is?

I could twiddle parameters till the entropy of the universe and still not know whether it'd been fixed or not...

I know it's annoying to the customer, and it's even more embarrasing to me personally. It offends both my feelings of competence and professionalism.

This topic is now closed.  Whilst Milviz has no problems or issues with supplying first rate customer service, there comes a time when the customer, who has refused to take his money back, becomes more of a pita than he's worth.  That time has arrived and past.
