May 2, 201313 yr Anyone have any insight why my flight has become roller coaster airways? Near TOD and push managed mode and I get an initial descent rate of 7000FPM. The pax puke was flying everywhere. Disgusting. You had entered an arrival runway and filled the Approach Perf page in? Expect wacky results otherwise. Yea. All was entered. Started 7k/min then tapered off to something more normal. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
May 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member If you push before TOD managed NAV should give you a 1000fpm descent until you reach the descent profile. If you push after TOD the aircraft will pitch down within limits to try and pick up the descent profile, keep an eye on the FMA and make sure you are seeing THR IDLE and a pulsing IDLE on the upper ECAM as the engines spool down. A real world technique is to either select a 1000fpm V/S yourself or use OP DES and then go managed once you have picked up the magenta descent profile (VDEV) It keeps things smooth. May 2, 201313 yr Author anybody know how to turn the Dome and night lights on ? Cltr+L doesnt seem to work for me . I have tried turning them on using the 2D panel and the switch goes back to off mode as soon as I click it on :( Did you turn on the APU before trying? The switches don't work for me either until I do that. Not sure if that's a bug or a real Airbus feature. Also, according to FB they are going to be doing an LCD version of the panel as well
May 2, 201313 yr Well, were you flying much faster than the managed speed? If you push before TOD managed NAV should give you a 1000fpm descent until you reach the descent profile. I did increase the speed, so that logic would state there is plenty of speed to start a decent descent rate and keep up with it. Especially so since I pushed managed mode 5nm before TOD to hopefully get a nice smooth gradual rate. Seems to me the VNAV as I know it in relation, does not seem to be working very well and you have to do things yourself manually. May 2, 201313 yr Commercial Member What do you mean by increased the speed? Where you not in managed SPD when you initiated the descent? Rob Prest
May 2, 201313 yr What do you mean by increased the speed? Where you not in managed SPD when you initiated the descent? Yes it was managed speed. I increased the Cost Index from 30 to 80 as it was just too slow and I had plenty of fuel. Done way before TOD CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
May 3, 201313 yr Is the nav data complete with this plane, including TP? I was always bugged by Wilco, they seem to have STARs but then lack the procedures for runways that even the builtin GPS has. The AXE has been the first Airbus that I have that has improved on things. It certainly does sound like an improvement on the Wilco. Jack F. Vogel, Delta Virtual Airlines
May 4, 201313 yr After reading this thread I've come to teh conclusion that most of you think the BBS A330 is better than the Wilco airbus series. So on that basis I'm gonna buy the A330 and see what's it's like. It's already as "good" as a wilco and it can only get better right? I would wait for the Flightsimlabs A330 but that won't be released for many years. I will fly the BBS A330 and report back my findings
May 5, 201313 yr I also purchased it today, I'm very happy with it thus far. Had a couple questions, sent some email and had an answer in hours. There may be small issues but its completely flyable, and things will only get better from here. My Wilcos are going into the scrap yard Jack F. Vogel, Delta Virtual Airlines
May 7, 201313 yr Better than the wilco? Its gonna take more than that to get me to buy. The wilco is a pretty low standard. This new A330..seems to be passed up by a lot of people. Are you guys happy with it and recommend it? In light of the recent competition it seems a little...shall I say, underwhelming?
May 7, 201313 yr Commercial Member In light of the recent competition it seems a little...shall I say, underwhelming? Well at least it's the only new payware A330 we are going to see this year. Now after update I've had some problems with fly by wire doing random things such as rocking the wings for no apparent reason and such, however I'm sure BBS will fix it and not everyone seems to be affected with this bug. I would recommend it after they fix the fly by wire trouble some users have experienced.

Are you guys happy with it and recommend it? In light of the recent competition it seems a little...shall I say, underwhelming? No, I am not happy with it and would not recommend it. It is just a bit better than Wilco. FBW is screwed up, taxi handling is terrible, managed modes does not work as they should, etc. Regret my purchase and have already uninstalled. Looking forward to FS Labs A320 and, hopefully, A330 later. Jan Betlach
May 7, 201313 yr You are aware of the fact that you can push the actual tiller inside the VC with the left mouse button to toggle the tiller on and off? (Rudder active or tiller active) Therefore, taxiing this big bird isn't a problem at all, even it tight turns. Managed descend works great for me, just be sure that you press the ALT knob 3-5 miles before you reach the T/D.
May 7, 201313 yr Commercial Member Michael, his post definitely sounds like a case of pebkac Rob Prest

Are you guys happy with it and recommend it? In light of the recent competition it seems a little...shall I say, underwhelming? I've flown the BBS A330 now and offcourse it isn't anything like a PMDG, but the only A330 worth buying except for the BBS one is going to be Flightsimlabs A330 and they are not even done with the A320. If they complete the A320 this year they'll need another two years on the A330. So untill 2015 or whenever the FSL A330 comes out I'll use the BBS A330 B)
