April 17, 201313 yr That's a tough one seeing this photo of him For an old man, I broke down as I was sending that picture to my friend in Dubai, who with her 6-month baby was afraid for their lives as the building they live in shook and threw them about in the aftershock of the earthquake today, wishing that the Divine Providence that had kept them safe, had also kept this boy whose face will be etched in so many memories for years to come, safe. How poignant that poster he was holding. How prophetic. Rick Almeida
April 17, 201313 yr Breaks my heart. I want who did this to Martin brought to justice and punished appropriately, if there is such a thing. I agree, but fear the justice that will be served will be too soft. I still don't understand how people can do this kind of attack to such an innocent group during a peaceful, festive event. Like rockliffe said, this shows how everything can change in an instant. A lesson I've personally taken from this is to try better to enjoy the little things in life more often. You never know when everything can turn upside down and when it does, I want to be proud knowing what I've been able to do, enjoy, and experience. With all the tension between people (here in the US) lately, times like this remind us how we are all in this together. And I hope this brings a stronger sense of unity among us. My heart goes out to all those affected, we are all pulling for ya. :American Flag: / CPU: Intel i7-9700K @4.9 / RAM: 32GB G.Skill 3200 / GPU: RTX 4080 16GB / Freight Pilot
April 17, 201313 yr ....I still don't understand how people can do this kind of attack to such an innocent group during a peaceful, festive event...... There's always been a fair measure of evil in this world and sadly there's people who take advantage of today's media and instant, youtube headlines to perpetrate their evil on our world. They either have no moral compass, or their moral compass is distorted by negative religious brainwashing, drugs, or the gratifying violence that is epidemic in today's video games, broadcast and film media, and print media. The good thing is there's also millions of examples of courage, love, unselfishness, positive religious upbringing and positive media and video games. A positive game, or simulation, is FSX, or XPlane (or one of my personal favorites, Rail Simulator). Positive examples of courage were displayed in Boston, after 9/11, after the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean. To fight what happened in Boston, if will fill our thoughts with these positive images it will help defeat whoever was involved. They can't win if they ultimately don't terrorize us. Positiveness defeats them. It's hard to find the right words to add to these types of threads, and when we're thinking of the boy who was killed, even harder. But I pray he is in a place where peace abounds. I firmly believe our souls are eternal--and good souls like that little boy have a special place in that eternity. John
April 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member Horrible event this was, I wish all the best to all of those injured people and loved ones of both them and those who lost their lives in this attack. Thankfully it seems like most of the injured seem to be in relatively stable condition now so there's hope that no more lives will be lost. It's difficult to understand why somebody would choose innocent and positive event like Boston marathon as a target for act of cruelty like this, in 9/11 and such you could at least see the symbolism behind why they attacked those exact targets but in case of this attack I can't find any. I hope whoever did this will be caught and brought to justice soon enough.
April 17, 201313 yr On behalf of the people of Massachusetts, I'd like to thank you all for your expressions of sympathy and yes, your expressions of outrage, too. I wasn't personally involved, but friends were there. Seeing places I know and streets I've walked in the videos of this event makes me realize how the world has changed, and how we must all be ever mindful of danger, and ever grateful for each day we have with our loved ones.
April 17, 201313 yr Media is reporting that an arrest was made--hope that it's true since it will help with the process of moving on from this. I don't care who the person was or represented--just that they are caught and unable to do something like this ever again. And I hope if more were involved, the authorities find them too. John

April 20, 201313 yr Remember it is Maritime Canadians that plant that Christmas Tree in Boston Commons every year since 1971, We have always been in support of the people of Boston. And we thank you. After 9/11, there was a story of a US warship at sea that received a radio message requesting a close pass-by by a German frigate. The Germans passed by with every man at attention, saluting, and an American flag flying. We need to always remember that, no matter how numerous the enemies may seem, there are far more good people in this world than bad guys, and we will always prevail.
