Thinking of buying the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with Three-Lever Throttle (PZ44

Featured Replies

My flight simming began some 10-15 years ago with CH Products and I eventually upgraded to Saitek which IMHO is an upgrade. However, I did grow tired of the plastic and imperfect sliding action so I bought a new PFC yoke, rudder pedals and throttle quadrant. This is a no brainer if you can afford it. These controllers gush quality and after using these I would give up flight simming before I'd go back to the hardware I replaced. For the average user they certainly suffice but like I said...........

I think I've almost got it setup right but I have a niggling problem that is proving to be annoying. When I turn left, there is a dead spot just off-center but turning right is fine. I have run the Saitek setup program a number of times and have been unable to resolve this. Any help would be appreciated.

Other than that little problem, I quite like the unit. I look forward to setting up individual profiles in FSUIPC over the next few weeks.

I've found the Saitek software to be problematic and now use only the drivers.  That allows me to adjust things to my taste and use FSUIPC for axis assignment and calibration.

That and then Spad for the panels.

Right, so I took on the challenge of setting up a profile in FSUIPC for the yoke and bypassing the control setup in FSX and it made a huge difference in how the planes "feel". It was a pain trying to figure out the buttons but it was totally worth it.

Now if I can get rid of a dead spot when banking left......

Saitek support is first rate. My throttle quadrant developed a fault - they then replaced yoke and quadrant with a week. Can't argue with that.

Cheers

Can I add a second PZ45 USB throttle quadrant to the existing yoke and TQ?

Yes you can:

Warning: The trim wheel is not compatible with the NGX.

I plan to MOD this further to emulate the 737 TQ

I have to return my yoke as the dead spot when turning left seems to be getting worse. I contacted the Saitek as well as the store I got it from (Banyan Air Services, a local FBO in Florida) and they both said they would replace it no questions asked. Needless to say I'm going the Banyan route as I will get a replacement immediately  B).

Hopefully, the replacement will be without fault and I can get back to flying my MD-11.

Hey Avidean,

are those white throttle "handles" the commercial ones from a guy in Great Britian?  If not... who, where and how much?  If so, I heard they were top heavy causing them to always slowly slide to the bottom.  I see you have your quads at an angle (like mine), which may prevent that from happening.  Anywho, the guy wanted over $100USD for the handles so I passed but yours do look nice.

Tip about the Yoke guys, there are several USB ports on the back.  If you use them make sure you use an AC power converter (adapter), as well or it will blow you Saitek Yoke board inside.  I had two Yokes blow because of this... not right away but over time.  I actually went to Madcatz in San Diego and met up with the product manager about this.

Apparently, the Yokes were supposed to come with AC adapters originally but mine did not.  Not sure if they do now.  But if yours didn't I would contact Madcatz about it.  They were great with me and gave me two completely new Yoke units and shipped out adapters as well.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

Mine did not come with an adapter either. I'll see if the replacement unit comes with one and if it doesn't I'll contact support.

They are a little pricey but comparied to the time you would spend making them its nothing and they are very good. I did modify mine so they are a tighter fit on the saitek.

If the Saitek TQ's are not angled the weight does pull the throttle closed. I wouldn't buy them unless you are willing to do a little work with them. They add alot of realism to the feel. I have other mods planned which I will post pictures of when I eventually get them done
